So my shadow £17.99 after 2 and a bit years is now nearly double the price monthly £32.50. With it seems no increase in specs or service at all and an outstanding upgrade dating from 2019.

How is a doubled cost justified by the company when there is no addition of service or specs?

What price is expected for the ‘elusive, upgrade that was £24.99?… £50?

Your present customers weren't given options with your new pricing or a range of plans for customers. Just an agree to this price or service will terminate at end of billing cycle. Thanks for coming now off you go.

I for one am disappointed and look forward to any reply

They’ve talked about this price change extensively… no real point to hashing it out here, just read what’s already been posted:

Bottom line, since you’ve somehow managed to avoid all the chatter about this over the past few months: previous price was not profitable or sustainable. Company had to choose between a new pricing structure or bankruptcy. Now you have to choose between new price or no Shadow.

I just received my first ever email mentioning the price and plan changes an hour ago.

So one they should give a little heads up with something so drastic.

The last few years they have been placing limits and removing features such as 1 hour shutdowns, network speeds, and dedicated ssd’s.

Now they downgrade the specs and increase the price.

I don’t see Shadow lasting long going this path. For game streaming it’s a no brainier to chose another service.

For other compute needs, depending on what you do it is easier and cheaper to DIY and rent a bare-metal server. Other things may need a little more work and research but still cheaper to DIY.

I will continue my current subscription for as long as they hold up their end of the deal but. If Shadow hasn’t become competitive by then I’ll be leaving shadow.

I hope your right, it's been to long since shadow has been available to every one and year wait times lol. Those other gaming services to me are useless because I play games that aren't on them, such as Starbound. As I already said you shouldn't of been trying to use shadow for anything but gaming, if you want a dedicated server go rent one. You should definitely not pay them, so there are more servers for every one. I tried to tell them years ago to raise their price to 30 to 50 dollars a month, it would be more profitable and wait times for people would be way less, glad they finally did it.

If it were up to me, I'd be offering line jump tiers, such as 200 dollars instant set up, 100 a week, 50 a month, and if you pay nothing when ever they get around to it, if no one else is paying for a jump.

Unfortunately, the problem for many of us is that there’s nothing available to replace what Shadow actually does. My only computer at home is a 2015 Macbook Pro, by choice. I sold my gaming desktop a couple years ago for a number of reasons. So now, if I want to play any game I want higher than ~low-medium, Shadow’s my only real option.

Every other competitive “game streaming” service either has a limited library (Geforce Now / Vortex) or requires you to re-buy the game locked to their platform - the ultimate DRM (Stadia). No one else offers a service like this, where you have a physical computer that you can install and play all the games you’ve already paid for on whatever store you want (Epic, Steam, Microsoft Gamepass, Origin, etc.).

So for many of us, this isn’t even a choice. I continue paying whatever Shadow charges, or significantly limit what I can play / stop gaming completely.

Of course I prefer the cheaper rate, and the fact that I’ll be paying over twice what I’m paying now for no other reason than the company’s survival, with no clear upgrades in sight, isn’t lost on me. But I do understand their predicament. I’d rather pay more and see them healthy and profitable than pay less and see the service go under. Now, I wait and see whether the price change is enough with their new overlords.

Well if you have 1yr commitment you have the option of keeping the price till the end of your sub :)

Also Microsoft will be putting their own version of cloud pc….365 windows not to be confused with Microsoft 365 :p

Pricing will TBA in aug Maybe included in GPU like project xcloud :P
