Please Be Careful

I cancelled my account in March. In June I got suspicious e-mails about validation codes. I figured they were phising attempts and did not click on anything.

Then I got a change of e-mail notice. Again didn't click and just ignored it.

Then I check my credit card and it has been charged twice. Shadow is asking me to send them a picture of my drivers license and a piece of mail for proof of identification…. on the same e-mail that clearly was compromised for the person to reactivate the Shadow account.

I’ve asked them to cancel my account and they won’t. They said I had to log in and do it….so I tried and got the “oops something went wrong message” Asked for a phone number and they said one doesnt exist..

Please be careful with using this service.

Hi @Tommy33

It sounds like your e-mail and or shadow account username and password were guessed. This happens if your username and password were re-used on other services and one of those services suffered a breach and your username and password were sold as part of a rainbow table.

Shadow follows proper procedure when it detects possible fraud or suspicious activity. Asking for a gov ID and piece of mail to confirm address on the account is good verification practice to protect you from having your account hijacked.

I wish you the best luck in securing your digital ID. -Gelgoog
