So I forgot about my shadow and have not used it just over a month, however today is the last day before my bill renews and I am currently trying to cancel yet the option is not there. I have sent support a ticket but I don’t know how long that will take, does anyone know why the option is not there?

Are you on the annual subscription?

I am not, I have the monthly “cancel anytime” one.

Normally there should be a button or text for canceling the subscription when you have a monthly subscription or when the annual subsctiption is at last month. When you can’t see this you can only wait for feedback of the support.

You should contact support then

As the renewal date was the next today (today) you are not able to cancel due to it being in process of billing. Support should be able to cancel it as you contacted before the renewal date, but chances are you will be billed today regardless and they will likely refund (if you do not use your Shadow that is) otherwise you’ll just have access to it for the rest of the month and it will not renew.

Don’t expect any actions from them that demonstrate they wish to keep customers. I registered last spring, didn’t use the service at all, then cancelled because I didn’t know it had even been activated. Presumably the email went into my spam folder.

Today, I decided to try Shadow and noticed after registering that they had billed me for three months last spring. I had not used the service at all. I asked for a refund, figuring they would kindly send that small amount of money back to a new subscriber as a way to show they are good people. They denied my request, as is their right. That, however, was not a friendly or wise decision because as they should have predicted, I am now cancelling my subscription and they have lost a potentially lifelong customer so they can hold on to about $80.

If a company makes such bad choices about things like this, what other bad choices are they making? It requires a lot of trust to rent a computer from someone and I don’t think a reasonable person would trust people who make such capricious choices they know will damage their reputation and revenue.

Get out while you still can.

What did you think was going to happen. Why should you get your money it was on you to keep checking up on it. Not trying to be a dbag but its like my new car. If i drive it or not i still have to make that payment.
