unable to switch to active window

  • Describe the bug (required)
    • Shadow loads normally and is running Windows perfectly before the bug occurs
    • Then on running a game (Borderlands 3 or Fortnite) the game loads, goes past various splash screens then minimizes to the task bar.  When hovering the mouse over the icon in the task bar you can see the game is running and hear the game sounds/music but you are unable to switch to the game using alt tab, or selecting it in task manager or any other method I can think of.
  • Steps to reproduce the bug (required)
    • This bug is random, but has happened 3 or 4 times which is why I am reporting it to see if anyone has a fix or has also encountered it.
       
  • Application/device, official or beta, and version number (required)
    • Windows official launcher 1.8.7
       
  • Additional Context
    • When I have encountered this bug, the only fix is to restart shadow, and this is not guaranteed to work first time.

(posting in forums hurt my tiny brain, this was supposed to be in report a bug - hopefully someone who knows what they are doing can move it!)

We tried to reproduce this issue on our end but were unsuccessful. We launched Fortnite and Borderlands 3 many times on multiple testing environments and never got the minimized taskbar issue. We also checked our various bug and support tickets data and it does not seem other users are reporting this issue.

 

It seems the issue may be triggered by some software bug/setting/install specific within your Shadow. I recommend manually reinstalling your Nvidia video drivers, checking your Windows’ ‘Game mode’ settings and other settings within your Shadow, or searching online for other possible causes/solutions as this issue seemingly can occur on any PC and not just Shadow. As a last resort, you could also do a factory reset of your Shadow from your account page on the website. This would wipe your Shadow’s data but restore it to default software settings.
