Add Docker Support to Shadow

I don’t need to explain Docker and its benefits, those at Shadow reading this already understand the value of Docker virtualization.

I have had Shadow for over a year, and don’t have any major complaints. The recent price increase has put me in position to look at other options. I am at a cross roads where am considering replacing Shadow with a new high-end PC that can do Docker (and other things) that Shadow does not currently support. I got Shadow as a personal test drive to see if it would be a good alternative to buying a new high end gaming system. For over the past year, the answer has been yes. The answer has shifted to” “Questionable” because of the price increase.

I understand that Shadow is geared toward gaming and is not intended for virtualization technology such as Docker. To justify the increase in monthly expense I would like to be able to do more than just gaming partly because I am spending money on other cloud services to get technology that Shadow currently does not support. I would prefer to cancel those other services and keep Shadow if there was, more-or-less, virtualization options in Shadow.

Thanks

If you need nested virtualization then you may wish to consider other options that can better address your wishes.

Thanks, I am in the process of doing that. I take your comment to mean that Shadow is not considering it anytime soon. As noted in my original post, alternate options would mean I would cancel my subscription to Shadow simply because of the total expense involved.

Hey @nrnoble
Nested virtualization is also an issue with security. There are many reasons to disallow this. Unlikely that Shadow will accept those risks in the near future.

Thanks. yeah I understand there are limits and any solutions don’t currently exist at a price that is affordable to the current target market (gamers). It is not realistic to setup a $2500 gaming PC in a data center for each subscriber. :)
