Been using Shadow for around a year now and love the service. I recently bought a pixelbook go but the experience is not a good one.
Has anyone had a good experience on chromeos?

All I’ve heard about ChromeOS is that the mouse can be a bit buggy at times, as well as a generally poorer image.
I find the stream stalls every 5 seconds also.
I’ve got an i7 pixelbook that I like to use as my portable device - I tend to use the shadow app to start a stream off, then use Chrome Remote Desktop to use my shadow.
Not perfect, a bit too laggy to game on, but enough to get by.
The app has worked slowly better and better, the mouse lag is the biggest thing now!
I don’t use my Shadow for gaming so this might not help.
I just use the app to start the Shadow. After that I just use Chrome Remote Desktop instead. For regular, non gaming, usage the experience is very nice.
There’s no official support for Chromebook and it’s just using the Android version, there’s not really anyway real work arounds that may increase latency.
There is a good workaround that works very well for me. Just using Chrome Remote Desktop instead of the Shadow App ( after starting the Shadow with the App ) works just fine. Officially supported or not.
The Android version itself works very poorly on ChromeOS. This is correct.

The Android version on Chrome OS is pretty not good, But there are some workarounds, the chrome remote desktop is slightly better, but remember to connect to a 5GHz network, it made a world of difference for me.
Also try moving closed to your router and test some of your speed and packet loss, could be an internet issue if its constantly not working.
Seeing how we have no current support for ChromeOS dont get to caught up in it for now, it might be a while before we do get support.

For gaming purposes I suspect the Chrome Remote Desktop choice is almost as bad. But for regular desktop workloads it is more than slightly better. The improvment is from un-useable to just fine. At least for me.

My workaround with Chrome Remote Desktop is not suitable for gaming purposes. Only for regular desktop workloads. But for these workloads it works just fine.
Shadow needs a simple Chrome extension / access through browser, could simplify everything on Linux too, or a proper support for Linux / chromeos.
After installing a bunch of dependencies, Linux appimage on ChromeOS(Linux subsystem) stay on "Shadow is ready" and the stream never starts, probably because it's using Wayland (as Fedora does by default), which is not supported by the shadowapp.…
It's so hard to use shadow far from Windows or Mac…
The android app on ChromeOS is a joke, we need true support !

On my chromebook I cannot seem to get shadow to work. I just get a black screen most of the time. In the occassions that I do get a working screen, it is way too laggy. It works fine on mobile though and I got it rinning perfectly on my old crappy windows notebook. Not on my chromebook however.

Well. I just use the Android app on ChromeOS to start my Shadow.
To actually use the Shadow on my ChromeBook i use Chrome Remote Desktop.
Downside is that Shadow not always regognize all user interaction and that makes the 30 min limit and shut down instead of hibernation very annoying.
Nota bene: This makes the Shadow absolutely good enough for desktop work on a ChromeBook. But it is NOT a gaming solution at all.
So, for a about a month or two I used shadow on my chromebook (15), I experienced little to no latency, it looks decent as good as it can get on a chromebook anyways, The main fault I found it when trying to play a game the shadow app (Android) doesn’t detect mouse inputs so playing a game with a mouse is pretty much impossible, however I’ve seen people say running Linux or something similar on ur chromebook COULD work not sure if that’s true or not I’ve personally never tried it but if anyone has experience with Linux on here maybe they could figure another work around. I now use shadow on a windows laptop so it doesn’t effect me anymore, but besides that I’ve really had no other problems with it.
You could also try using parsec and stream your shadow pc to parsec and use parsec on ur chromebook, I’ve never tried it so idk if it works but you’d probably have to be on a very good internet connection.
I was a ChromeOS Test Pilot, one of the people that Google sent a free Chromebook to. It’s effectively a linux/android hybrid that uses chrome as it’s GUI. You can put the OS into Dev mode and install things over it. I’m literally thinking of adding the client to my Cr48 so that I have a powerful, unbranded laptop that has a 1080. That would be nutz.
Standalone though, it’s effectively the chrome browser as a computer. That’s it. No programs, just android apps and websites.
Right now, I find that Winbooks work better than Chromebooks with Shadow. Linux notebooks work well too.
Looks like this thread answers my question about ChromeOS support. Any working workarounds to getting Shadow to work on a TV wirelessly? I signed up to replace my Stadia account, and want the mobility of playing on a larger TV using Chromecast. BT mouse and keyboard from my phone?
So currently are we saying the best workaround is to remote to a desktop on the Chromebook, the. Launch Shadow that way?

Newer models of Samsung devices have Samsung Dex wirelessly, that’s a thought.
