Hi!

Right now I'm looking for an affordable android tv box for using shadow.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a box? Nvidia Shield pro might work but is rather expensive.

Those are the ones that have caught my eye so far:

Xiaomi Mi Box S (2GB DDR3 RAM; 8GB eMMC Flash; CPU: Cortex-A53 Quad-core ARM; GPU: Mali-450; Android 8.1) - see: https://www.mi.com/us/mi-box-s/specs/

Thomson THA100 (2 GB DDR4; 8 GB eMMV Flash; CPU: Cortex-A53 Quad-core ARM; GPU: Mali-G31; Android 10) - see: https://asset.conrad.com/media10/add/160267/c1/-/de/002497343DS00/datasheet-2497343-thomson-4k-android-tv-box-streaming-box-4k.pdf

STRONG Leap-S1 (2 GB DDR4; 8 GB eMMV Flash; CPU: Cortex-A53 Quad-core ARM; GPU: Mali-G31; Android 10) - see: https://www.strong.tv/en/products/ip-tv-receivers/leap-s1/

Nokia Streaming Box 8000 (2 GB DDR3 RAM; 8 GB eMMC; CPU: Cortex-A55 ARM; GPU: ?; Android 10) - see: https://www.nokia.com/phones/en_int/nokia-streaming-box-8000/specs.

Could you recommend any of these devices for using shadow? Or should I rather use something else?

Since I got no reply to my question, I went with a Dynalink TV Box (4K)

Reason:

  • It got official LineageOS-support. Which means: I will be able to update it even after the manufacturer (Dynalink) stops supporting it.
  • Supports 5ghz wifi
  • Relatively inexpensive

Conclusion:

This works pretty well except for two caveats:

  1. Some key combinations (like WIN + e) don’t work since the windows key seems to be mapped to the google search thingy.
  2. You need to be able to press START + SELECT to enter the shadow menu while streaming. If you’re only connected with a mouse + keyboard, that won’t obviously work, since neither has a start or a select button.
