Why can’t we use an Xbox Elite Series 2 on Shadow??

I recently bought an Xbox elite series 2 hoping to play on shadow with it but when I opened shadow it did not connect. Is there anything I can do to play games with it on my shadow? If not when is the earliest we will be able to use an elite on shadow?

For macos and ios, earliest as of ios14 & big sur.

at least support on os level for ios is coming with ios14

What about with a MacBook Air, how do I use it with that

Does it natively detect the elite 2 on catalina? If not its coming with big sur release.

My Xbox elite connect via Bluetooth on Mac but when I go into shadow it is not recognized??

only xbox one for now. No elite 2.

its an os level issue. You can connect but inputs wont register. But at the wwdc they have said that elite 2 will be supported in ios 14. I assume that big sur will as well

youll have to wait for big sur release

Honestly I’m pretty sure that shadow just doesn’t support elites because I have it plugged in with a wire on my Mac but when I go to shadow it doesn’t show anything, on the other hand when I plug in a regular controller with wire it works on elite. I just hope that they make it available for us to use elites on shadow soon.

Youll have to accept that at the current stage catalina does not support the elite 2 so shadow cant pick it up either if your local machine doesnt pick it up. (As in the inputs. Connecting is not sufficient)

macos supports mfi, xbox one (1708 model) and ds4 for now.

Anything else that can mimic one of the above mentioned eg 8bitdo controllers also would work.

ps: any search on goolge will yield you the same result that catalina just does not support elite 2 and big sur will do so.

If I get the MacOS Big Sur beta will I be able to use it or will I have to wait for the full version?

For now wait for release. The beta is for devs like blade to implement the new game framework into shadow and test.

Do yourself a favor, use a Xbox Wireless Adapter and forward the USB. It will work right now (as long as your USB over IP works ofc), it supports all the Elite 2 features (remapping, profiles...), which shadow’s emulated 360 controller likely never will, and on top of that the Xbox Wireless protocol is faster and more reliable than bluetooth.

Forwarding a controller connected with a USB cable should also work.

The OP is on macOS, not Windows...

Wait for release sadly.

Blade also has to update the shadow desktop client for big sur support.

and the xbox wireless controller is windows only

This works on any platform that supports USB over IP, including macOS. The adapter is handled by windows on the shadow, not on the client (that’s precisely why it works and bluetooth does not).

Cool didnt know macos + shadow would allow the dongle to work. Too bad, I have replaced all my xbox controllers with ds4s

Are you sure about this? If so, it would be big. I was under the impression the USB device had to be recognized by the local OS for it to be forwarded via that feature. I’d love to be wrong on this!

I do have the ability to test this, so will report back!

I can confirm it works! I had to use the alpha client, though.

It looks like the connectivity is subject to glitches, though...it would intermittently lose connectivity when testing:

I don’t have any Elite controllers, but good to know this is an option!
