Weird F1 2019/2018 freezes when using racing wheel

I have used my Thrustmaster TMX racing wheel for a couple of different games on Shadow, and for the most part, it’s been working great. Unfortunately, I cannot say it’s been so great when trying to play both F1 2019 and 2018 on Steam.

Whenever I am using my racing wheel, both games freeze as soon as I take control, either after standing starts or automated drive outs/flying laps. This doesn’t happen if I use a traditional gamepad or the keyboard and mouse, so it has to be related to the racing wheel.

Is anyone else having this issue, and/or do you know how to mitigate it. I am running the stable Shadow client on a Windows 10 laptop. I can provide additional information if need be.
