What Games Do We Officially Support?

First, let’s make things right. Shadow is not a library of games. And that’s a good thing. Because it’s much much more!

Why? Just because.

But also:

👉 On Shadow, you can play any game from Steam, EpicStore, etc. pretty much any game launcher you like!

👉 You’re more of an Indie game player? We’ve got you covered: you can download your favorite games on Shadow!

👉 And of course, do much more than gaming. But if you’re here, we bet you already knew that!

So yes, Shadow can support pretty much any game under specific conditions: as long as Shadow meets the hardware requirements for a specific game and the developer allows virtualization, we’re all set!

That being said, you wanted us to publish a list of games that we tried on Shadow. Unfortunately, we don’t have someone (yet?) to try ALL the games that exist on Shadow (if we do, please help me get that job). In the meantime, here is a list of popular games among Shadow users:

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

  • League of Legends

  • Grand Theft Auto V

  • Fortnite

  • Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

  • Destiny 2

If you try a game that isn’t on this list, please let us know in the answers below!

I started using Shadow to play Cities: Skylines! because my personal computer (just a work Macbook Pro) could barely keep up even on small cities. For a long time, I was considering building my own PC, but just couldn’t find the time. With Shadow, I was able to start gaming right away, crank up the settings, and actually enjoy the game!

Hi there ill throw in my opinions of what runs great,

  • Witcher 2 ( the only thing that might make this awkward is in steam when you click the file from the quick launcher in Shadow on say a mobile phone, it goes to a desktop mode where the separate Witcher launcher opens and on a tiny screen can be awkward to click play again :D)
  • Dota 2 ( it had 6ms ping in your Paris servers in game  however this isn’t representative on the ping the player would feel as we are streaming the desktop itself)
  • Monster Hunter world
  • Apex legends
  • Dark souls 3
  • Terraria

Basically I have the thought that with a troubleshoot any game I throw at it will run even if the settings have to be lowered.

P.S. - I’m on the most basic shadow package and it runs most things at a high-Ultra detail at 1080p :)

We set up an IRacing Rig on Shadow with a ghost, Logitech steering wheel, 65” curved Samsung TV, and a Playseat. Works pretty darn well but we are having Audio issues with Headset and Microphone. Ghost does not seem to recognize headsets with Microphones built-in.

  • Civ 6
  • Red Dead Redemption 2
  • Banished
  • Tropico 5
  • Witcher 3
  • Dota 2
  • Warcraft 3 Remastered

@Iamf7o I do run it at ultra, because after doing some experimenting I was never able to get 60fps no matter what settings.  Ultra I get around 35-40fps, and on lower settings I was getting a max of like 40-43.  I’m guessing its CPU bottlenecked and thats why the changed settings makes such a minimal impact.

I don’t really have any lag in my games unless I’m playing on wifi.  In my experience shadow 100% needs to be used on a wired connection for quality play.

I've, also, been playing Star Citizen on Shadow.

Tips:

#1 - If you're getting an installer error from the launcher during download/install you'll want to install the game in a directory outside of the “Program Files” folder. Alternatively, you can create a virtual hard disk and install the game there.

#2 - Unless you are located very close to the Shadow server array, it's probably best to avoid game interactions  like fps and dogfighting. This goes for any game mechanics that requires near zero lag. At least until technology catches up and destroys the nightmare that is latency.

Hi. Are you using Boost ? I am getting max 28 fps ( I don’t know if it is related to the game (or server side) performance or CPU and RAM are bottlenecks.

Adding to the list, the Origin games launcher also has been working for me. I've used a few different games on it, with the most notable being Sims 4.

Thess where all play be me on shadow boast with 60 to 80 FPS and most of all games are on a high to ultra setting @ 1920 x 1080

Some of these game im sure I could move to ultra but they are just as good on high settings with no lag in video or sound quality.

The only problem I have come across is with multi-player and getting my microphone to work and thats it

Dayz --- high to ultra setting

Assassins Creed Valhalla-- high setting ( started playing 11/10/20 )

Fallout 4 -- high setting

Anno 1800 -- high setting

Gta V - high setting

State of Decay 2 -- ultra

Frostpunk -- high setting

Survive the Aftermath-- high setting

Grounded -- high setting

Minecraft with shaders works fine for me, using Boost. Depending on the mods I'm sure it could get a bit laggy if they are super extensive.

Also, Valorant is a no-go right now (not due to Shadow, but Riot Games).

I play a lot of steam and rift vr games on shadow through virtual desktop on my quest and it is an amazing experience! It looks better than quest native games and there's usually no lag or anything that i notice. Anyway, of course I'm gonna add to the ongoing (and very helpful) list:

The forest (both vr with oculus touch controllers and flat with a ps4 controller)

No man's sky

The walking dead saints and sinners

FL studio (not vr but i used my quest to do it so i guess it counts as vr on shadow)

Kobold

Echo arena

Lies beneath

Seeking dawn

I'm realizing now that i may have issues with buying games! Lol. This is actually  a MUCH longer list and i don't wanna try to rack my brain trying to remember them all here but if, in the future, any of u are curious how deep the rabbit hole goes, I'm always willing to say if I've tried a particular game you may be curious about.
