Issue/Describe the bug

When switching back and forth between Shadow VR and Shadow 2D Desktop it can become unrecoverable due to a black screen and invisible mouse cursor.

Beta v. 3.7.6

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Use Shadow with Desktop
    1. Used MacOS client but may replicate in any Desktop client
    2. Display settings were 1920x1080 @ 100%
  2. Connect to Shadow using VR Beta 3.7.6
    1. Using Quest 2
  3. Observe that SteamVR and gameplay works as intended
    1. Performance within the game (Arizona Sunshine PC version) was excellent, even though it was through an extender base station of a 2xEero setup
  4. Quit Shadow VR
  5. Reopen Shadow on Desktop
  6. Observe that Display settings is now 3840x2160 @ 200%
    1. Not technically honouring the spirit of a 1920x1080 @ 100% monitor even though it is technically accurate
  7. Manually change the Windows display settings of Shadow back to 1920x1080 @ 100%
  8. Observe Desktop experience works as expected
  9. Retry to connect to Shadow VR Beta
  10. Observe Updating halts at 100% for up to 10 minutes
  11. Observe that Restarting Shadow also halts up to 10 minutes
  12. Return to Shadow on Desktop
  13. Observe the lack of visible mouse cursor (even though you can tell it is hovering over buttons or views in the Shadow overlay) and that the entire windows desktop within Shadow is black (but the shadow overlay is visible as expected)

I’ve switched between Desktop, iPad, and Quest 2 multiple times now and have not been able to replicate this issue. I believe the switching between beta and “official” version where it shows the installing of components failed at some point for this incident. We could likely close this unless anyone else is also encountering it.
