This page is recommended directly below my Ultra order made back in late 2019!!! But no mention. If this does not have any progress info, why point at it in My Orders.

Provide at least a link. Right to update people who are awaiting activation five months after their Boost order, sure, but feedback to those waiting 15 months would be nice too...

Try contacting Shadow support. They might be able to give you some information about why it is taking so long for you to get activated.

Tried that several times. Likewise via Twitter. Radio silence. I am beginning to believe that Ultra doesn't actually exist... They just took a bit of extra cash from me one month for nothing...

Try to contact them from your account page instead of using Twitter. You should get a response that way.

Yes. That's been done. About once a month, so 15 times so far. One response early on to say there would be a delay. No response since.

I think it would be better for you to cancel your pre-order, get Shadow Boost and then upgrade to Shadow Ultra if possible.

I have Shadow Boost, so access is not a problem. Just frustrated at lack of updates for my Ultra order… If I ordered in 2019, the last thing I’d want to do is start at the back of the queue! I have raised another query with Support today. My basic appeal is no detriment to the hard work you’re doing here - just that it should cover other orders, or there should be an equivalent page to those upgrades. Being in a vacuum is not a good place to have your customers.

I should add, I’m a long-ish term original then Boost customer from 2018, and it is wonderful - worth the wait. Shadow is amazing. I do Premiere Pro video editing on my Shadow as well as gaming, hence my main desire to upgrade for shorter render times.

Bought a further subscription for my son in August (as a Christmas present) which came online dead-on-schedule according to this page in late December - so much cheaper and better than buying him a gaming-PC. He loves it and would use it 24-7 if I wasn’t such a mean parent.

Hi,I love and use Shadow since 02.2019. Thanks to you, I no longer have to struggle with high electricity bills and expensive upgrades, but just take out my old laptop and start playing. Now I have a little concern that you can help me with.I understand, of course, that there is a great rush and that you are doing your best to please us. I had pre-ordered the Infinit version in October 2019, probably as one of the first in my country. Meanwhile, my account is telling me no longer beginning of 2020 but beginning of 2021. Hence my question whether you could tell me when I could expect to play on the Infinit, and while we're at it, when the Shadow Ghost will be available again. ThanksDaniel Oskar

P.s. Its createt with Google Translator.

Staff say they have no news about Shadow Infinite activations other than “Early 2021” if you are in the EU. They also doubt that the Shadow Ghost is going to be available again. A staff member said you should follow the Shadow Twitter if you aren’t in one of the Discord servers.

Will the Texas data center be available this week ?

Hello,

I have this idea floating in my head since my first pre-order. I have pre-ordered my shadow boost in December. The Location was Amsterdam since it is the nearest Datacenter to me as I live in Germany. Now I will get mine activated in June and this is a lot of time!! Half a year!! Also we yet don't know anything about shadow Ultra or infinite so it may take another 1-2 years until this choice will be available for us.  So I though maybe if I go and subscribe to another location where you don't have to wait a lot of time till your account get activated and you could upgrade your subscription in the very near future . The best choice I found is Chicago. I know this will affect my ping in a bad way (I measured the ping to Chicago and it was 130). I just wanted to ask would this be a bad choice ? Would things still be playable at this rate or I will be facing big problems that would make games unenjoyable?

Thanks in advance!

Games probably wouldn’t be well playable with that high ping. I would stick to the Amsterdam datacenter instead of trying to switch to Chicago. Shadow is worth the wait for me.

They told me that my account will be activated in a month and now they tell me that in 6 months, how is that possible?

Hello, how are you, my shadow should have been activated on the 14th, I'm from Texas, but it couldn't be due to the problems in the CH and TX servers, according to the article in which I write, those from Texas will have their activations in mid-January if it was booked from December 31 to January 8 (I bought it on January 5).
Does this mean that in the course of this week my shadow could arrive?

(@26CM): Have a look at “Paperspace”. They are a cloud service like AWS, but also have a gaming setup similar to Shadow. They have just 2 days of unlock time via a support ticket, instead of 3 months. I still need a credit card to try out an instance, but my account was indeed unlocked for buying a gaming instance in 2 days. You can bill on a hourly on-demand basis, so just pay like 30 cents and have a try. Better than waiting 3 months. But if you want to stay with Shadow, I actually tried what you propsed. And I’m in the exact same data center. Here is what I found:

I’m still waiting for my Amsterdam Shadow (which should get activated this week) and I have registered another one in Texas, because it was the closest one that had 24 hour setup at that time. My experience in the last 3 months with that instance are: You can actually play games and I think it’s a totaly valid temporary thing. For some of use even playing with a bad connection is better than not playing at all.

One thing though: You won’t really be able to play anything with a fast reaction time. Like first person shooters in online mode. At least to a satisfying degree. I played CS:GO, Fortnite, Sins of Solar Empire, Witcher 3, Star Citizen and Elite: Dangerous. While CS:GO was utterly unplayable against other players, the rest worked comperatively well. Yes, you have input lag. Yes, it won’t fell as good as a local PC. But it’s better than waiting 3 months in anger.

Take this from me on what Shadow keeps saying about that topic: Every speed test with Shadow (that neat little tool they have on their website) will tell me that I can’t even properly play with an instance in Amsterdam. With a Texas instance it’s just red everywhere and says it would be literally unplayable. Truth is: It is absolutely working! Just do the speed test with Texas, search for a “mouse lag simulator” and see for yourself how the input lag will be. Graphics-wise you will have the occasinal dip in quality, due to bandwith and jitter, but it’s far from “unplayable” in my sight. I’m playing Elite regularily with no problems at all. It just feels a little weird.

The sad thing is, that Shadow (after more than a year) still has this HUGE setup time. And I got the feeling that it is actually increasing rather than going down. And saying that’s it’s due to the pandemic or the release of Cyberpunk 2077, literally drove me away from the service. We all know that this is a lie. The pandemic did not impact the global market for server hardware. It actually increased demand. But not to a level where you need 3 months to buy a new server. Also what was before that? And the release of a hyped game really shouldn’t impact activations. I mean we get that every year, don’t we? Do I need to expect downtimes every time a hyped game comes out? I hope not, because that could be a business killer...

Man this was very informative and helpful. I will try and see the thing with the simulator to test the input lag. And as you said I really don't have that strong pc.. I have just a Laptop with an Intel HD 3000 graphics. It cant even run CS;GO.. And I do not have the money to get a brand new PC and if I decided to buy a new one I would not be looking for a PC with an outdated Graphic Card. And this leads me to the second Problem with the Shadow Datacenters in EU other than the waiting times. If we need to wait 6 months just to get our accounts activated.. then how long will it take to get those servers upgraded ? I guess till late 2022. And we all can see how games are becoming more demanding especially with the new Raytracing technique . I don’t think the GTX 1080 will be able to handle newer games with the best quality and graphics.  Nividia is working more faster than ever before and it is releasing stronger and faster Cards without leaving a time distance between every release so we could be seeing the new 4000 series by the end of the Summer. I actually subscribed to shadow boost in order to be able to upgrade to the Ultra. Games are being developed to match best with the new Raytracing and it is really an amazing feature (maybe others wont prefer it over better FPS but I find it very interesting since I like games with better lighting). But thank you for the information :) much love <3

I totally agree. The increase in setup time showed me that they don’t have a working business model and/or deployment process. And they will fail sooner or later, if this isn’t fixed. I mean: The only reason why people are “okay” with 3+ months of setup time, is because there is no real alternative. But that will change very soon. With Google, Microsoft and Amazon on the track it’s just a matter of time. And also there is the aforementioned Paperspace, which I still couldn’t try (damnit). Anyway I hope you get your true gaming experience one way or another! And I’m glad to help :)
