Hey Team Shadow,

For those of you who have pre-ordered Shadow and are still waiting, know one important thing:
We *still* haven’t forgotten you!

For Week 2 of our new weekly updates here, we’ve made a small edit to what we added last week: “End of Week target”
 

Monitoring the chatter, we noticed that “End of Week” led to the impression that people who had not been activated by Thursday might be activated Friday. The reality is that currently we,

  • Activate Monday through Thursday
  • Beginning at 8am local time each day for each DC
  • And sometimes squeeze in a few extra activations before we finish assessing activation status on Monday to provide this update


Because of this, we’ve changed that last part to be: “Target by next Monday’s update”

It is still effectively our target for our end of the week, but we hope this name change helps clarify any confusion. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!
 

Below is the activation information by datacenter - you can check which datacenter you belong to if you don’t know. 
 

CHICAGO:

If pre-order date is before May 26th:
Activation by end of June

If pre-order date is between May 26th - June 1st:

Activation by July 23rd 2020

If pre-order date is June 1st or later:

Activations starting July 2020

Target by next Monday’s update:
Latest activation has May 1st pre-order date
 

DALLAS:

If pre-order date is before May 26th:
Activation by end of June

If pre-order date is between May 26th - June 1st:

Activation by July 23rd 2020

If pre-order date is June 1st or later:

Activations starting July 2020

Target by next Monday’s update:
Latest activation has April 30th pre-order date
 

NEW YORK:

If pre-order date is before May 26th:
Activation by end of June

If pre-order date is between May 26th - June 1st:

Activation by July 23rd 2020

If pre-order date is June 1st or later:

Activations starting July 2020

Target by next Monday’s update:
Latest activation has May 5th pre-order date

 

CALIFORNIA:

Does that mean that the last activation had the pre-order date of 10 May or that the target for next week is to activate the pre-order of 10 May?

Hey Lincoln, thanks for asking. It means that our target is for the last activation of this work week to have a pre-order date of May 10th. If all goes according to plan then next week’s activations will begin with the May 10th pre-order date, and we will have a new target for that week that’s further than May 10th.

I pre-ordered on May 1st here in Texas, but by the look of it there are accounts activated that have been ordered long after.

I might be misinformed here, so if that’s the case I apologize, just looking forward so much to getting on my Shadow rig!

It will be in July. Most likely before the 23rd but don’t worry if it is a bit later than that.

Hey guys, I tell you anything about a preorder. I did pre-order on my shadow ultra and I have purchased a shadow boost when I got July I will activate it. But I wish I want to activaten  now from my shadow boost and I have activation by June 15 to next available July. So I live texas.

Hey their I know this is about activations but I preordered a ghost with my sub on January 7th 2020 I was activated in feb and yesterday someone who ordered same day as me and is in the same country as me (U.K.) got their ghost I havnt yet however how are the ghosts shipping being handled is it random ? And when can I expect and email saying my ghost which was ordered on 7th January 2020 has been shipped.

Hello, 

We should be done shipping all Shadow ghost by thursday. IF by then you have not received a tracking number please contact support they have the tool to figure out why it is blocked.

for users who preorders a Shadow Ultra then choose to wait for it on a Shadow Boost, we plan to activate the remaining batch early july.

So, if im not wrong, “Target by next Monday’s update:Latest activation has April 6th pre-order date”, means that the plan is to have till April 6th active by the end of the week, not that is already active the pre-orders.

So, just to make sure I’m understanding this right, (because I wasn’t last time,) I ordered my Shadow on May 1st, and I’m with the Chicago data center. You plan to get my Shadow activated by next Monday? If my understanding is correct, I can’t wait!

So the target by monday’s update is to have the may 1st preorder date (Chicago) but last week the target was april 29th... if i ordered may 16th should I even expect to get activated by end of june? Is it probably not going to be until july that I get activated?

So my DC would be New York and I ordered on May 24th. Would that mean I will get activated in July? Right now I’m just confused and I haven’t slept in 2 days since I’ve been busy with work and fire department.

@RyanFromShadow  I personally appreciate your team’s steps towards transparency. Additionally, I share some concerns with this poster.

  • Why is the target for this week’s progress two days’ worth of pre-orders (20200429 - 20200501) as opposed to a closer-to-proportional amount of the backlog given the broader target?
  • Is “by June 30th” still a good estimate of when a May 25th Chicago pre-order will be activated?
  • If the progress through activation is “lumpy” i.e. not typically at a smooth per-week rate, then I think it would be helpful for there to be a disclaimer around this, and some additional information
    • I think intuitively your customers following this thread are discounting their remaining wait time as an approximately linear function. 
    • e.g. Is there is a plan in place to provision a large chunk of CH1 specifically in the last week of June? This info would help early- or mid- May pre-orderers understand that the intuitive linear model is underestimating their likely wait time.
