Latest activation has May 2nd pre-order date

 

Does this mean they are starting activations starting on the 2nd and end up on a later date by the end of the week?If it is planned by the end of the week then how are they going to get to the 26th by the end of the month when last week it said the 1st was the latest activation. Just one day of pre orders getting activated in a week? 

I agree with this poster. You should not post these long term dates if they are not even remotely accurate. If you get only 1 day of activation done a week fine; but please do not mislead people who are thinking they are getting the shadow this month when clearly they are not. Also there is an additional wait behind the activation. *Your shadow is being prepared* I am currently one of those people. Posters are sometimes waiting weeks for this while seeing the subscription start. I had to contact support to clarify that the days SHOULD correct itself when you are fully activate. I would appreciate not to be misled. You have a great product but need to communicate better. Thanks!

I appreciate everyone’s comments.  Unfortunately, I’m afraid they fall on deaf ears.  We have a “Community Manager” who has literally only made 10 replies - the last one being more than 6 days ago.  That’s pretty shameful! Additionally, Shadow staff never responds to the comment thread on these activation posts all while continuing to provide misleading updates.  Shadow’s got a great product but their customer service and communication is severely lacking.  They can do better!

 

Additionally, if you reach out to Shadow Support about your activation date because these posts are so misleading you’ll be given a completely different answer.  I was quoted a June 26th activation date for a May 30th preorder.  How does that work?!  

 

It would be helpful if Shadow would quit talking out both sides of their mouth and give us an honest answer.

I myself am also trying to remain patient and positive as I can understand how time consuming it is setting all of this up, not to mention trying to get the additional hardware from whomever they purchase through. I work for a significant hardware manufacturer and I can tell you there are several parts delays due to COVID. 

 

To the Shadow Team, I know you’re all doing your best and it is greatly appreciated, but I think the lack of transparency and communication is impacting everyone more than our Shadow PC’s being ready.

Ryan, can you clarify “latest activation?” Ordered May 2nd in Chicago, so does that mean the target is that May 2nd should be activated by the end of the week or that it already has been?

I’m anxious to have my… Shadow activated. I check my order status daily, if not multiple times per day. I just noticed that the Santa Clara activations are “activating ahead of schedule”! It is showing that the latest activation has an order date of June 15th. My order date is June 14th, what gives?!?!? Did someone get to jump the line? Am I next in the queue :wink::wink: (thats a wink, wink - if you know what I mean)?

Can you please explain how NY activation before May 26th will be done by end of June (which is now only 8 days away), but you are only able to activate 2 days worth of pre-orders each week? Last week the update was through May 5th. This week, through May 7. At this rate, my pre-order from May 19th will be later in July (if not August), not by the end of June.

When we say “latest activation” we mean the last pre-order activated by the target deadline. So in your case with May 2nd, May 2nd should be the pre-order date of the last activated Shadow at Chicago for this week.

That’s our target for the end of the week for Santa Clara, so all things constant you should be activated by the end of this week

I ordered May 12th. Seeing as there’s a delay in those select data centers would the expected date still be the end of this month?

GG to the community on holding Shadow accountable.  I’m glad to finally see an honest response from the Shadow staff instead of the misleading activation goals we’ve seen the past 3 weeks.  Hoping this leads to more transparency and truthfulness from the Shadow staff in the days ahead.

“Overpromise and Underdeliver” is a bold strategy. I was told for 24 days that my Shadow would be activated June 2020 (May 9th preorder - Dallas) and now that’s not the case. Shadow knew they were a month behind activations and still misled new preorders into signing up.

All this combined with the least helpful and pithy responses to “When am I getting activated?”

Every time we see someone ask about activation on this forum, reddit, or discord - Shadow responds with a high and mighty “it’s impossible to predict if you don’t even tell us what server location or preorder date.” Well it’s apparently impossible to predict even if we did tell you all that information.

I don’t understand the logic from a business perspective of not adding enough hardware to the datacenter to handle new paying customers, and instead having potential customers leave while waiting.

 

What is the bottleneck at the datacenter keeping Shadow from adding more capacity?

 

Why can’t shadow be honest and accurate with their estimates. I am patiently waiting to be activated on the NY datacenter, and now days before that’s supposed to happen there is suddenly an unexpected and totally unforeseen problem. I’m not buying that for a second, please just be honest with potential customers and give us an accurate estimate for activation.

i was so close to getting my shadow activated, only at least 9 more days till the end of the month and now theres a higher chance ill get activated in july or later.
its very fustrating to be told that your shadow will be activated june 2020 and waiting till the very end of june, only a week left to be told that its going to be delayed.
a moderator on the discord estimated 5-8 weeks and now its looking more like 8-13.
ive been waiting 7 weeks, ordered may 6th, chicago.

Its not their fault that there are unexpected delays. Because of COVID and having to keep within a certain distance of each other plus with some parts being hard to obtain delays happen. I am still waiting for my shadow to get activated.
