Hey Team Shadow,
 

Welcome to this week’s update on Shadow Boost activations.

Now that we’re a few days into Early July, it’s important to note that our team is still heads down working on the delay for those who ordered before May 26th at Chicago, New York, or Texas. As mentioned in the email sent to impacted users, our teams are working with partners to deliver a primary storage deployment necessary for giving you access to your Shadows. 

 

European activations are on track and rolling smoothly, with specific activation targets listed below. Santa Clara is activating on schedule (promised July 2020).

 

UPDATE:
Fortunately this week the team has been able to activate ahead of our initial Monday projections for Paris, Chicago, New York, and Texas! The “Target by next activation update” sections for each data center have been updated with the latest dates.

 

 

As a reminder:
-We activate Monday through Thursday

-Beginning at 8am local time each day for each datacenter
 

Below is the activation information by datacenter. You can check which datacenter you belong to here. 


 

CHICAGO:

If pre-order date is before May 26th:
Activation in Early July 2020 (delayed from June)

If pre-order date is between May 26th - June 1st:

Activation by July 23rd 2020 (after pre-orders before May 26th)

If pre-order date is June 1st or later:

Activations starting from July 2020 (after pre-orders before June 1st)

Target by next activation update:
Latest activation has May 17th pre-order date (was May 13th)


 

DALLAS:

If pre-order date is before May 26th:
Activation in Early July 2020 (delayed from June)

If pre-order date is between May 26th - June 1st:

Activation by July 23rd 2020 (after pre-orders before May 26th)

If pre-order date is June 1st or later:

Activations starting from July 2020 (after pre-orders before June 1st)

Target by next activation update:
Latest activation has May 24th pre-order date (was May 19th)


 

NEW YORK:

If pre-order date is before May 26th:
Activation in Early July 2020 (delayed from June)

If pre-order date is between May 26th - June 1st:

Activation by July 23rd 2020 (after pre-orders before May 26th)

If pre-order date is June 1st or later:

Activations starting from July 2020 (after pre-orders before June 1st)

Target by next activation update:
Latest activation has May 18th pre-order date (was May 14th)


 

SANTA CLARA:

If pre-order date is June 10th or later:

Activation starting July 2020

Target by next activation update:
Latest activation has June 26th pre-order date

 


PARIS:

If pre-order date is before June 10th:
Pre-orders are on track to be delivered late summer (August-September)
If pre-order date is June 10th or later:

Activations starting October 2020

Target by next activation update:
Latest activation has April 15th pre-order date (was April 13th)


 

AMSTERDAM:

If pre-order date is before June 10th:

Activations starting July 2020

If pre-order date is June 10th or later:

Activations starting July 2020

Target by next activation update:

Glad to see that the activations have picked up pace again. I’m assuming the storage related issues have been resolved.

The team is still working on the issue as a whole but they’re making progress! Thanks for your patience, Mist.

Hey #TeamShadow, adding a reply here for anyone that might be subscribed to the thread to let you know that there’s been an update to this post. Specifically: Paris, Chicago, New York, and Texas “Target by next activation update” sections have been update, as the team has been able to activate faster than initially projected.

Hey Ryan, my Shadow still hasn't been activated, and while I do have an open support ticket, it's been two days now and the activation team still hadn't responded to it.

Is there anything you could possibly do to facilitate getting my issue taken care of? If I'm not activated today, it'll be going on two weeks past when - by all your estimated - I should've been activated.

It's becoming particularly disappointing that such an obvious issue would be effectively ignored for this long.

If you don't recall, my preorder date was May 8th.

Hello everybody

 

Looking at the activation times looks like people who were sent the prediction Early July will be delayed once again. Just looking at the statistics. Sorry to tell you guys but everybody who ordered after may 20 will not be activated the week of 7/12 looking at the statistics. you are looking at maybe 1-2 more weeks of wait time, which is not too much!!

Wait... really? I'm confused now. Is the latest activation date the last activation that has been done? Or is the date listed the target date for next update??? 

It is the goal for this week.

It's getting a bit disappointing for me - my preorder date was the 8th at the NY datacenter and still not activated.

Quick question… I know the update says July 2020 for the Santa Clara activations but could you be more specific abt the dates…? 

I ordered mine on July 3rd and my friend said that his came in a matter of days so I was just wondering what the timeline would be like.

Bro i ordered june 26th Santa Clara data center and still haven't got activated yet. I'm not complaining but I'm guessing it might take about 2-3 weeks or so for yours to activate.

I hear ya. There's alot of people out there that have waited 1-2 months maybe even more for theirs. We're lucky that our data center is activating ahead of schedule. I used to have shadow before and it took a week to activate but it was well worth the money and the wait. Just have patience, it's well worth it!

I just wish Shadow staff would be honest with us, how is 2 weeks from now early July?

right that would be amazing i just feel like theyre getting peoples hopes up for absolutely nothing like it gives you a month on the orders tab when you preorder mines just july 2020 and i doubt itll even be available then bc i ordered it the 3rd of july. i am not even sure of an estimate of when ours will be done due to all the mixed times for everyone else ive seen order it recently.

Based on the current trend, likely next week. However, we’ll confirm that in next week’s update when we provide the new “Target by next activation update” for Amsterdam

Maybe it is possible to set up a personal update to the users who are still pending in the activation ? Like a estimated date of activation ? 

 

There are a lot of users, counting down, estimating a time of activation but nobody knows how many activation’s there are in front of him, or what the speed of actviaton’s is in a specif database. I can understand this is frustrating because you allready payed for the first month. personally i think, if you pay for something, you can ask something in return, and i believe giving clearence to the users is the least you can do in a pending situation. 

 

That’s a good idea! While I don’t have specifics to share I’ll reiterate that the team is working not just on activating users, but also on improvements to our activation communication as a whole (outside of this weekly update)

If it’s a Shadow Boost pre-order on April 1st in Amsterdam, it should have been activated by now and I recommend the person contact support for them to investigate.

I preorderd May 8th from the NY datacenter and I still haven’t been activated. Is that normal, or should I contact support as well?

For your situation you should be included in this week’s activations for NY, so I would recommend contacting support if you’re not activated tomorrow given your May 8th pre-order date.

For all the people who want like by the minute updates on when you'll be activated, wouldn't you rather those resources go to getting people activated as quickly as possible instead of just communicating about it?

I don’t want up to the minute updates, but if Shadow knew I wouldn’t be activated in June they should have updated us as soon as they knew that. Instead they waited until the last minute and sent an email with “Early July” even though they had to have know at the time that that wasn’t a realistic goal.

 

Just update us with realistic timeframes instead of stringing us along with made up dates.

I ordered May 18th NY DC, when can I realistically expect to be activated? Is early July anything before the 15th?

You may be activated within the next 24-48 hours (estimate) from what i’m seeing from others with the NY DC. I preordered on the 20th so I’ll probably have to wait a until thursday or even next week.

I don’t see how that’s possible is Shadow is estimating it will only get to orders of May 14th and earlier by next week

whoops, misread that section thinking the 14th is currently what they’re on.

I think previous weeks update thread did have the activation they were currently on, and this week it was changed to where they hope to be. I think this was a bad decision, it confuses people that have been following along and is less transparent, because now we have no idea what the actual activation rate is.

 

I have just about had it with Shadow, I’m starting to seriously consider just buying a video card and using my own system. I’m not real confident with how Shadow is going to work and the level of support anyone is going to get if Shadow can’t be transparent and honest about activation times to start with. I’m also seeing a lot of existing users complaining about the lack of storage and the pricing and availability of the storage upgrade. I’m not looking forward to getting activated and then having another months long wait for storage and another additional cost. I like the concept of unlimited cloud gaming, but I feel like the limited storage and price of upgrading are too high for me and I might be better off just upgrading my PC and trying moonlight.

so I wasn’t the only one who thought it said that last week was what day they were **currently** on, and not what they’re going to be on next week, hm.

I pre-ordered on June 24th 2020 and I still haven't received SHADOW

You need to calm down, you’ve literally not even waited a month and you’re complaining. The 2nd month for my activation is coming up, it is frustrating to wait but the result of waiting is great.

I pre-ordered a day after you on the Santa Clara datacenter, June 27th, and I’m in the same boat as you.

My support ticket was closed two hours ago with the response of “It is not possible to have more details regarding your activation date.”

I meant I was asking around, but yes, I ordered 6/28 and considering they were on 6/26 on Monday, I assumed I would’ve been activated this week, but Monday is fine with me
