Finally getting activated. Been waiting patiently for 2 months.

So does this mean that the texas center should be completely up to date? i ordered mine a week ago, and I belong to the texas data center, does that mean I will get activated this week?

5 monthes to wait for Paris :grimacing:

Any reason is so long in Paris ?

not only do we ave to wait longer but we were one of the last people to start getting activated in the 1st place.

i love shadow and its such a great thing but im disappointed in it for taking so ling in paris, i used to have shadow but had to stop paying for a few months due to personal problems and had no idea that i would lose access to my acount and had to wait almost half a year or more for it.

 

was activated today, now test a bit first. Unfortunately there is currently no hard disk expansion available, hope there will be again soon which 256 GB is not that much :)

My Shadow got activated this morning! 🙂 that was a pleasent surprise. I kinda thought I’d have to wait til at least next week! I can’t wait to test it after work.

Thanks for the update. I do prefer the more conservative delivery dates.
Sure, it might be disappointing to see a very late month in the year, but it could end up in a positive surprise.

And we are able to plan better. My 10-years-old PC just died a few weeks ago and now I can decide, should I get a replacement or holding out without, until shadow is ready.

I’m by looking at this it looks like ill be activated next week 🙂 i’ve waited a whole month for this. Can’t wait :)

I have been waiting since May..  however I know what I am getting, you have all the reasons to be excited. It's great stuff.

I ordered a shadow boost at 27th of June and the datacenter that is going to host my shadow should be in Amsterdam. But since August 10th it says it's already running, from August 10th till September 10th. As I still get the error message when login into the client ”Email address or password invalid. Ignore the message if you have properly and go to your user account on Shadow. Tech” my email and password are correct as I typed them from hand and also tried copying them from my auto login at Shadow. Tech, wich indeed works. the question is what is going on? is my activation through? if so why didnt i get a Email about it?

I’m going to point out that this information wasn’t readily displayed when I was making my purchase. As a matter a fact, I recall it saying that it would be ready “Immediately after purchase”.

Your product maybe good but you customer service is off to a terrible start. I’ll make a post on reddit if there isnt one already so people can find this and not be misled.

I am from the UK and when I signed up on 24th July, I knew it wouldn’t be activated until November and although that was a little gutting, I knew it was what I was signing up for. Just to say, it is very refreshing to have a weekly update on activation times, as most companies wouldn’t bother doing this, so thanks for that. 

Please forgive the purely selfish question, but are there any plans to try and speed up the activation times on the Paris server, or is it a simple question of volume and the backlog just needs to be worked through at x number of activations a week?

On a very sad note, I had a dream last night that my Shadow was activated. 

Looks like they are ahead of schedule for the AMS datacenter. I ordered 16th of July, got activated today! But unfortunately with a p500 instead of a gtx 1080 :sleepy:

That’s nice to hear. Me waiting also for activation in AMS DC.
The Quadro P5000 is not too bad and comparable to the gtx 1080. Maybe just a few points worse in benchmarks. I guess, they just use the common nvidia names, because only few people know the Quadro line. In the Boost setup I consider the CPU as the bottleneck anyway. But at this price point, no deal breaker for me.

Let’s hope that’s the case in terms of performance. I also asked the support for an switch to 1080. The answer is no, they had to stop the rollout of the 1080 due to Nvidia policies.

All activations are on the P5000, as that is the server card equivalent to the GTX 1080. They cover that with is the wording used on the Boost specification page.

@HughesD Thanks for reaching out about this!  I checked our pre-order page but wasn’t able to replicate the “immediately after purchase” message you saw.  This is what I see when I choose a state on the shop page.  Of course, it could depend on the area and site you signed up for.  If this behaviour isn't showing up on the pre-order page, I’d recommend sending a note to support about this through your Account Page: https://account.shadow.tech/ so they can take a closer look into this for you.

I have no doubt that the team is going as fast as they can and obviously don't like activating later than promised. My question was whether or not Blade are planning to allocate additional resources to the Paris DC, so catching up on the ~5 month backlog currently being experienced and bring it more into line with wait times on other servers? Don't worry, I have fully resigned myself to the November activation date and happy to wait that long for what is a great service, but a little hope that it could be sooner, would be well received.

Hey folks, i pre ordered my shadow booster yesterday and i was given an activation of December for the Paris data centre!
