Welcome to the weekly activation update!

 

Brittaney stepping in here for Ryan as he takes some much-deserved travel to Shadow Island.  Some of you may know me as the former Support Hero, Jaina, but I’ve officially leveled up and am now Ryan’s new partner in crime!  We’re going to have so much fun!

 

We have no new delays this week (yay!) and have made significant process in activations for our Amsterdam and Texas datacenters.  We’ve fulfilled all activations for August 2020 in our Texas datacenter so our team’s now working on making sure the experience is stable and smooth for our current users before they start on activating for September 2020! 

 

As a reminder:

  • Activations take place Monday through Thursday
  • Activations begin at 8am (local time) every day for each datacenter
     

Below is the activation information by datacenter. You can check which datacenter you belong to here. 
 

CHICAGO:

Activations this week:

July 21st - July 22nd* 

If pre-order date is between July 22nd - July 30th:

Activation by end of August 2020 

If pre-order date is July 30th or later:

Activation by end of October 2020

 

*Due to the spike in volume of pre-orders on July 22nd, our team will be activating the remaining pre-orders this week. 

 

TEXAS:

Activations this week:
All activations for August 2020 have been fulfilled! 🎉

If pre-order date is July 30th or later:

Activation by end of September 2020



 

NEW YORK:

Activations this week:

June 16th - June 24th

If pre-order date is between June 24th - July 22nd:

Activation by end of September 2020 (delayed from August 2020)

If pre-order date is between July 22nd - July 29th:
Activation by end of September 2020

If pre-order date is between July 29th - July 30th:
Activation by end of October 2020

Waiting for shadow activation is like Guinness, good things come to those who wait.

My activation date isn't until February 2021 !! So 6 months at least, time flies however and it will be here before I know it. Have plenty to keep me occupied until then!

Hey guys i need help so this is my first time buying this i ordered it on august 23 can someone tell me when the next activation days are am in california and i dont understand it

So Since you belong to the california server and preordered after Aug 1st, they wont be able to activate your machine until end of september 2020 at the latest. Every week post on here to let people know which pre-order dates are being activated throughout the current week. For example if you were to have pre-ordered on July 28th and pertained to the california server, they would have activated your account the week of 8/17. I hope this helps

I ordered on May 21st. I've been assigned to the Paris DC.

 

I've actually had shadow before for 3-4 months. It was great but at that time it was almost £30/pm and I was only using it occasionally. It was very good FWICR.

 

At £15/pm it's much more attractive. Should only be a few more weeks now .. can't wait!

Hey folks, i pre ordered my shadow booster yesterday and i was given an activation of December for the Paris data centre!

Hey dude, welcome to the EU queue for Shadow.

Unfortunately, a 4 month wait on the Paris DC is pretty standard at the moment. I signed up in July and annoyingly, if I had done it like 3 days earlier, I would be activated in October instead of November 😟. 

I'm certain it's worth the wait!

I am from the UK and when I signed up on 24th July, I knew it wouldn’t be activated until November and although that was a little gutting, I knew it was what I was signing up for. Just to say, it is very refreshing to have a weekly update on activation times, as most companies wouldn’t bother doing this, so thanks for that. 

Please forgive the purely selfish question, but are there any plans to try and speed up the activation times on the Paris server, or is it a simple question of volume and the backlog just needs to be worked through at x number of activations a week?

On a very sad note, I had a dream last night that my Shadow was activated.

I have no doubt that the team is going as fast as they can and obviously don't like activating later than promised. My question was whether or not Blade are planning to allocate additional resources to the Paris DC, so catching up on the ~5 month backlog currently being experienced and bring it more into line with wait times on other servers? Don't worry, I have fully resigned myself to the November activation date and happy to wait that long for what is a great service, but a little hope that it could be sooner, would be well received.

I’m going to point out that this information wasn’t readily displayed when I was making my purchase. As a matter a fact, I recall it saying that it would be ready “Immediately after purchase”.

Your product maybe good but you customer service is off to a terrible start. I’ll make a post on reddit if there isnt one already so people can find this and not be misled.

@HughesD Thanks for reaching out about this!  I checked our pre-order page but wasn’t able to replicate the “immediately after purchase” message you saw.  This is what I see when I choose a state on the shop page.  Of course, it could depend on the area and site you signed up for.  If this behaviour isn't showing up on the pre-order page, I’d recommend sending a note to support about this through your Account Page: https://account.shadow.tech/ so they can take a closer look into this for you.

Looks like they are ahead of schedule for the AMS datacenter. I ordered 16th of July, got activated today! But unfortunately with a p500 instead of a gtx 1080 :sleepy:

All activations are on the P5000, as that is the server card equivalent to the GTX 1080. They cover that with is the wording used on the Boost specification page.

That’s nice to hear. Me waiting also for activation in AMS DC.
The Quadro P5000 is not too bad and comparable to the gtx 1080. Maybe just a few points worse in benchmarks. I guess, they just use the common nvidia names, because only few people know the Quadro line. In the Boost setup I consider the CPU as the bottleneck anyway. But at this price point, no deal breaker for me.

Let’s hope that’s the case in terms of performance. I also asked the support for an switch to 1080. The answer is no, they had to stop the rollout of the 1080 due to Nvidia policies.

My Shadow got activated this morning! that was a pleasant surprise. I kinda thought I’d have to wait til next week! I can’t wait to test it after work.

I ordered a shadow boost at 27th of June and the datacenter that is going to host my shadow should be in Amsterdam. But since August 10th it says it's already running, from August 10th till September 10th. As I still get the error message when login into the client ”Email address or password invalid. Ignore the message if you have properly and go to your user account on Shadow. Tech” my email and password are correct as I typed them from hand and also tried copying them from my auto login at Shadow. Tech, wich indeed works. the question is what is going on? is my activation through? if so why didnt i get a Email about it?

@BrittaneyFromShadow i am a big fan of the shadow and i am happy when iam also in the shadow and keep going you do greqt work and stay healthy :)
