If you missed it, on September 6th, we announced all the juicy details about the Power Upgrade, new market openings, Shadow Drive’s soft launch, and more.
Power Upgrade
Pre-order details:
-
Pre-Orders will be available starting on September 20th, before the Power Upgrade gets globally availability on October 26th
-
Emails will be sent out in two batches for these pre-orders. The first batch will be reserved for those who have previously pre-ordered Ultra and Infinite but have never been delivered, before all people who noted their interest in the pre-ordered form shared back in May will be contacted.
-
The Power Upgrade pre-orders will work on a first come first serve basis, and we expect demand to exceed the available quantities. Check your inbox on September 20!
Early Access details:
-
Early access will be available in early October in limited supply and time.
-
The GPU for this Early Access will be an Nvidia A4000, an Nvidia professional card very close to the Nvidia A4500 that will be the one for the Power Upgrade. Check our benchmark assets for more details.
-
This Early Access will be available at the discounted price of $/€/£9.99 versus $/€/£14.99 for the general Power Upgrade. This discounted price will continue even once the power Upgrade is generally available.
-
We’ll be doing a giveaway of some Early Access slots for our community, so stay tuned for more details.
Performance Scores Benchmark:
-
Shadow: 1x
-
Shadow with Power Upgrade (Early Access): 1.54x the performance of Shadow
-
Shadow with Power Upgrade: 1.65x the performance of Shadow
-
We’ve benchmarked various games to ensure the best performance. Games tested on Shadow includes: StarCraft II, Shadow of the Tomb Raider Definitive Edition, Tom Clancy's The Division 2, Far Cry New Dawn, Final Fantasy XV, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Borderlands 3, and Forza Horizon 5

Launch details:
-
There’ll be a good amount of Power Upgrades available at launch, but we expect the demand to exceed the available slots. However, capacity will be resupplied every month or so
-
In most cases, when upgrading to Power, you will stay in the same data center, and therefore will not need to factory reset your Shadow. If you are coming from a different data center or if you are coming from Ultra and Infinite, your Shadow will need to factory reset, however. We will of course let you know ahead of migration.
-
If you downgrade from the Power Upgrade to the base Shadow subscription, your Shadow will need to be factory reset.
-
At the moment, the Dallas, TX data center will not have the Power Upgrade available in 2022 due to a data center incompatibility issue. We are working on a solution to bring the Power Upgrade to the Texas data center ASAP in 2023. Here are the impacted US states:
-
Arkansas
-
Kansas
-
Louisiana
-
Mississippi
-
Missouri
-
Nebraska
-
New Mexico
-
Oklahoma
