Hi all, 

The beginning of a new chapter is in sight - with just about two weeks (yes,
really two weeks) to go.

Here’s what you need to know. 

Earlier this week, the two companies bidding to take over Shadow presented their cases to the French administrative judge. The court will now review all available materials and make its final decision on
April 30, 2021

The
good great news: both companies submitted very strong bids and intend to continue our operations, and we can safely say both bidders are committed to continue and grow the business.

Once the buyer has been chosen, we will work with them closely to announce our joint vision of the future of Shadow, and will get cracking on making the service the best damn thing you’ve ever experienced.

It’s been a long and hard road, but regardless of the outcome, it’s made one thing clearer than ever: We are grateful to have a community as magnificent as you, and are elated to enter this next chapter with you by our side. 

In the meantime, it’s business as usual at Shadow. We are heads down working on improving your gaming experience with regular updates, bug fixes and improvements.


As a refresher, here is the current company situation.

I absolutely love this service. And I hope like hell that it continues as is it's been a lifesaver for me honestly. I absolutely love it and can't see my life without it please continue as is

This breaks my heart.  I love Shadow so much.  Every time a company has an "exciting new stage" it means they are broke and some other company is coming to chop it up and turn it into something else entirely.  Back up your saved games, everyone.

Good stuff - best of luck getting it all squared away! This is a top quality service, genuinely impressed with the effort that is going in to continuously improve it.

hopefully they become a power house and make this service mainstream. better than buying a whole gaming pc.

My Shadow is ridiculously outdated and slow as it is.

 

It doesn’t have a CPU - equivalent capable of handling gaming at all.

 

Luckily I do already have a good-spec gaming PC so I’m not overly bothered, but 6 months wait for it is horrendous. 

Can you run a benchmark of your Shadow and post it on the forum for comparison? Not in this thread, maybe a new one?

It seems like Shadow is providing everything they promised and more.  Maybe your internet connection is too slow or you have unrealistic expectations.

Simply put, Cloud Computing, be it gaming, content editing or desktop workplace shall live on as the next evolution of computing. Although others have aided in the creation of the path, Shadow will forever be known as the one who laid the first stones to stand on.  

Microsoft, Amazon and Google are all binged on research to follow this path. Microsoft wants the business users; Google wants the education sector, and Amazon will rush to conquer the entertainment segment.

Shadow, being here already, and owned by anyone with the essential funds can establish themselves as the grandfather of the industry. Offering not only services but technology and analytics.

Having a Shadow and a high end 5G phone is a TOTAL gamechanger. Playing a smooth and steady HD GTA5 and Witcher 3 on the go with a Backbone controller is life and makes me sore about removing all of my storage mere weeks before upgrading my phone 😁👍

 

My concerns, however, revolve around the future of the company and its services. Most of the time with new owners comes new rules, regulations, and changes to what’s already working. There aren’t any other high quality services like this out there that I know of. Hopefully what will happen is the upgrading of services as promised as I want to upgrade my membership to the higher end plans.

Whereas I have very slow Internet even below what is the minimum, and I am able to play VR games… I suppose having infinite helps… I jumped on that right away when I got the option. But even before that when I had a boost, if blows my mind how amazing the service is. And to be able to access it on Apple TV, phones, VR desktop, etc.… It’s truly something that is unique and wonderful… And so so useful
