I probably along with dozens of shadow users would love to use our sim racing setups because shadow can run all the racing games we can want, I would love to use my Thrustmaster TMX for my steam games because my laptop (Acer Nitro 5) isn't as powerful as shadow. The service is great other than the wheel support, I’d love to see what shadow team can do for us in the future
Hi, I really like Shadow so far and as I’m working towards the best settings for my environment thoroughly enjoy the service. However, one thing that I find pretty annoying is the long load times of my games. I play a lot of Total War and those games frequently have to load a lot of data and it seems that Shadow does not have typical SSD performance, even from a ‘budget’ SSD drive perspective. Am I doing something wrong?
Before I dive into this please can you let your guys know that the discord invite in the welcome emails is dead, also on the Ubuntu app the instructions for sending Shadow logs are incorrect (or I am an idiot and can’t find the send logs button)I’ve finally got around to setting up my shadow, I am a linux user and have completed installing the pre-requisites but when I hit the ‘Start Now’ button the app appears to very briefly (less than a second) launch the streaming window and then it immediately closes and shows the following error: As I mentioned above I can’t see a way to dump logs from the linux app (also Linux isn’t an option on the support ticket form!). My Neofetch as follows: Any advice you guys can offer would be awesome. Thanks!
I have had a problem where any time my Xbox One Controller disconnects for any reason, it will no longer be recognized after reconnecting. The overlay shows that the controller is connected but the actual Shadow PC and any applications don’t see the controller any longer. This can be annoying since the controller will go to sleep if I step away for more then a few minutes and the only way I’ve found to get it working again is to completely restart the Shadow PC.
Application type (Windows)Shadow Client Version (Official + Beta)Local Device: i5-4440 CPU Local Device: R9 280 Paris DatacenterDatacenter speed: 1000 Mb/sWhen using Shadow the frames are smooth but skipping at regular intervals (roughly about 4 times a second making it unplayable for gaming. The problem occurs on both UDP and TCP although it is less frequent on TCP (once every couple of seconds or so). It also occurs regardless of the frame rate as I found using UFO Test. My local broadband speed is quite fast (usually around 100 - 200 Mbps) and the problem occurs no matter what bitrate I set in Shadow settings. The only way I can remove the skipping effect is to set frame rate in Shadow settings to 60, but I have just bought a 144hz monitor (1080p) for the purpose of playing at higher frame rates on Shadow so would like to use the full 144.
recently with the new update my microphone stops working after 5 minutes of use, it only works fine when I start my shadow. I tried to disconnect and connect it in the shadow panel, use the beta launcher, reinstall the application, disconnect the other audio devices, reinstall the usb peripherals drivers on Shadow and it still not working. - Works fine on my native pc - I don't have the microphone muted - I check out the volume - My microphone appears in the microphone section - Shadow recognizes my microphone but not the sound - I restart my shadow multiple times - Before the update my microphone worked perfectly The error is fixed when I close up and open my shadow but it stops working after a few minutes. I'm thinking of resetting my shadow but I don't want to lose all my data :( what can i do? Sorry for my bad english <3
Edit: Please ignore this lol, I completely neglected the fact that the first 256gb is an SSD. That said, Star Citizen is really struggling in boost, hopefully Ultra will remedy this. Hello, I’m sure of ya’ll know Star Citizen one way or another. It’s currently struggling a lot with shadow due to the lack of SSD option for Shadow. Even if it cost an extra $7, I wouldn’t mind paying it for a 250gb SSD option. Please shadow, do it! Best regards,
My data cap on my internet is only 700 Gigs a month. Yeah it’s pretty low. :/ I can afford unlimited but I was hoping to find out about how much data people eat up with this service in a given month. Also I am hoping to find out if I can play VR games using Virtual Desktop with my Quest 2. I assume all I need to do is install the Virtual Desktop PC app on the Shadow PC and set it to stream to my headset right?
Hi guys recently I bought a professional mic and an audio interface Focusrite Scarlett Solo 3rd gen and after installing the device software shadow does not recognise the focusrite sound driver, does anyone had this issue before? Please guys let me know, happy holidays, Miky
Maybe what Shadow offers (on paper) is worth more than 11.99 a month, I can understand that. If I’m getting access to a top-notch gaming PC maybe it’s worth 29.99 but honestly ever since the price increase Shadow has gotten worse and worse. I hear a lot of people are leaving this service and just saving up for a quality PC instead. Sounds like it might take some time and research to do so but at this point I’m considering it. Who thought it was a good idea to raise the price without offering your customers, especially customers you’ve had for years, something extra from your service in return or at the very least ensuring that your service will operate as advertised? Service has been down for days with no information as to why. If enough days go by with my Shadow in an inoperable state I should get a discount from that month. Can’t imagine waiting a whole year for your service only to find it in such a sorry state. According to Google this is basically the “best” cloud gaming service s
Hi, I use a quest 2 with airlink on my shadow ghost (boost) connected by ethernet with optic fiber, I play in front of the router.Any games I tried (Alyx, boneworks, lone echo, etc) have low frame rates and are not smooth, almost unplayable. Games are setup to lowest settings. I also tried different resolution on steam but can’t get proper results.I’m about to give up on shadow. Do I just need to wait for ultra of infinite or i do something wrong?
I’m starting to wonder if I’m missing something here. So, shadow runs OK on my Surface Pro 5 and perfect on my Desktop PC (which is expected)Shadow lags, and stutters a lot on my mini PC and my Samsung Note 9, almost the same.I thought my Samsung Note 9 would be no problem, as I’ve seen people claiming it runs well.I did a speed test on my phone and it’s about 80-100 MBPS on a 5GHZ connection. Is there a possibility it’s my shadow PC? I have tried ALL settings and had a conversation with someone else here, but with no solution to the issue. I’m running out of reasons why it’s so lagged/stuttered.
After the update on the 2nd of march (I think?), my Shadow PC hasn’t been registering any sort of audio output. My normal PC detects my mic just fine, I have tried switching my microphones, unmuting via sound control panel, troubleshooting, and restarting several times but to no avail so far.I’d like to get this fixed soon, I can’t speak with friends, record videos, nor play games that require me to have a microphone. open to suggestions, but there is a lot I have tried that hasn’t worked.

Does anyone else notice shadows YouTube performance in frame rates blur or drop? watch a video on YouTube using shadow and pay attention to head movement or hand movement. There is a slight blurriness or reduced frame rates to it. This only happens on shadow. it happens regardless of yt video quality and regardless of allocated bandwidth setting. its not my internet. I’m testing at 450Mbps. I did a comparison with my iPads (iPad Air 2019) Youtube performance with the same videos and definitely notice a difference. its watchable but noticeable at times.
I haven’t been able to connect to Shadow since yesterday. Every time I click on “Start Now” the loader gets stuk at 9/10 of the bar (see screenshot). I saw that there was an incident on the Amsterdam dataserver, but I also read on this forum that it was resolved and that people should be able to connect to their Shadow again. I was wondering if someone knows why I can’t connect to Shadow. I’ve tried to connect with different wifi’s and I’ve restarted my laptop. The last time I was able to connect was on Friday.
