The ratio of my screen is 1920x1200, but shadow puts it to 1920x1080.I tried to change it the following ways:Through NVIDIA Control panel Through the windows display settings Through Shadow control panel, by trying to turn off fit to screen and on again and changing resolution to 1920x1200.All the applied changes show the shadow logo with the set ratio, but it seems to be running twice where the 1920x1080 is set directly after the 1920x1200 so it appear to be run twice. What can I do to solve this? Thanks in advance!
Been trying to get latency down. I went as far to hook my modem directly into the outside isp line from the ground and directly to my pc and latency remained unchanged, around 25ms on my pc and around 50ms in the Shadows quick menu. My latency inside the shadow PCs quick menu is consistently around 50ms. When I test my latency inside the shadow PC using the latency test on Shadows website, I select the Chicago server (closest) and it shows my latency around 2ms. Is that normal or is it possible they have my server set to one much farther away? When I choose say California and run the test it puts my latency in the test around 50ms. Typical latency on my PC alone wired is around 25ms without the router. Down 100mbps/upload 10mbps. Any help would be appreciated.
Hi, I use a USB Headset called the “Logitech G430” and since my computer doesn’t come with a microphone jack I can’t use the headphone/microphone jack so, I have to use the usb connector that it came with. When I use the usb connector on my shadow, without fowarding it to shadow, the mic doesn’t work, and it can get really choppy sometimes. When I foward it, I can use my mic, but the choppy-ness increases a lot, my sound and my mic starts cutting out. Is there anyway to fix this?
I use creative cloud Photoshop on my Shadow.Host PC is Ubuntu 20.04, so I have to use the god-aweful linux appimage.90% of the time I need 20 tries to even connect to my Shadow Desktop, but thats a story for another day. The infuriating bug is, that when Photoshop is open, and I drag the cursor over the canvas - MY whole PC shuts down.Like not shadow client is breaking down, my whole pc is going black, doesnt recognize input and only a hard shutdown (longpress Power) recovers me. The Shadow instance is not broken. I can access the same instance again via Windows and Android. So the Linux AppImage is fundamentally broken. I assume its some strange pixel values that the client misinterprets. Maybe similiar to the pixel bug that bricked Samsung Androids, when you put it up as a wallpaper device. Thats the only technical idea I have, why a visual thing can make MY pc shutdown. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iXKvwPjCGnY Any ideas where I could sent some example data? I mean I can reliably r
I tried searching for this exact message but no topics came up. I attempt to launch a game from the Shadow app using an Android 11 phone. Instead of starting the game it goes to the Shadow desktop and gives me a "Failed to detect game start" message. I can launch games from the desktop without any issues, just not through the app. Any suggestions?
Hey Shadowers!Got an odd performance/video issue on one of my rigs. I’m running Ubuntu 20.04 on a HP Revolve 801 G12-core 2.4GHz proc 12GB RAM Intel HD Graphics 4000 Ethernet connection to a GbE Switch 200Mbps internet Connected via HDMI to a 60” TVBasically when I start up the app (official and beta tried), the top half of the screen loads, but the bottom half looks like an old scrambled cable TV channel. None of my inputs/commands receive a response, and at times, it doesn’t even recognize my KM. My Ubuntu PC does, but Shadow does not. It also takes forever to bring up the quick menu, and I can’t take a screenshot of the stats due to that same severe lag.Shadow runs fine on my other devices, even over 4G, so bandwidth isn’t an issue. I’ve tried changing the allocation, low bandwidth mode, resetting everything, including my devices, and running the bash scripts provided in other threads. Nothing seems to solve the issue. My only guess is that my resolution settings aren’t compatible wi
Just found out HDD upgrades are available so I got one. Disconnected from shadow, bought the hdd, tried to reconnect. Nothing. No device can reconnect, no matter linux, windows, android. Shadow seems dead. Super system. I am so happy to have this super bug free experience. It just works. The Linux Client is shit btw. Worst software ever created on this planet.Funny how the Android client is fine, even though its also Linux, but you just cant figure out how to make an Ubuntu client stable.
Hey there, I tried creating an idea. When I chose the correct Sub-forum I got an error message that displayed, “Category is not accessible for this user” This problem occurred on September 25, 2020.Here is an image of exactly what happened: Note: When I did not choose a sub-forum I got an error message that displayed, “You haven’t selected a subject.”
I have had Shadow for a few days and I wanted to see if there is any advice I can get regarding issues that I am having with with streaming video within the application. When either streaming video (YouTube, ESPN+) and gaming (Steam) I encounter significant amounts of stuttering with the video. I have tried a couple of things to resolve it (upping bandwidth usage and enabling “low bandwidth mode”) but neither improved the quality of the video. I have the FPS counter running in Steam while playing a game and it shows a fairly steady 60FPS. Latency in the Shadow usage states is >30 and packet loss is 0. My laptop is connected wirelessly via WiFi on what should be a 5ghz band (I feel like I saw 2.4 when setting up for some reason but that shouldn’t be right) and both video streaming and gaming are pretty much unusable. TV is connected is directly connected to a mesh WiFi satellite which improves the stuttering but the image quality is still rough. The TV is running the app through a Nv
Since I've updated my pixel 3a to android 11I cannot use a gamepad (bluetooth or connected through OTG cable). The gamepad control only the application interface, and the inputs aren't sent to Shadow's server.I guess Android 11 "improve" the way gamepad are used.
I have signed up with proton mail and now that I am working I can afford a better version. Since I have changed I need to enter a verification code for my “new device” and I cannot log into my email. I have tried contacting support on the shadow tech page but I think it’s just glitching out or something. Can someone please help? I think my email was hacked and I have no idea how to get me started again without making a new one.
Hi there, so I currently have an Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop with 144hz screen. But I can’t get shadow to run properly on this machine. It is fully updated on newest windows updates, everything else is updated from AMD GU driver, ethernet everything. It is setup correctly in terms of IPv4 and there isn’t any antivirus/firewall software running, besides stock Windows stuff. The issue is, that in fullscreen mode, there is massive input delay/lag and the stream quality is pure garbage. Just dragging a windows around, seems to lag and stutter heavily.Interestingly, when I change to windowed mode, the stream quality seems ok and also the input lag and delay seems almost gone. Both local Windows and Shadow are set to 144hz correctly.I have a 1gbit connection, use ethernet gigabit, ping is 20ms, no packet loss in shadow stats panel. Thanks for any ideas.
Dallas data center. Shadow Boost. This was also discussed here: This morning, I experienced very poor CPU performance with nothing but Chrome running. Geekbench showed the following: Maximum Frequency: 1.18 GHz BrittaneyFromShadow replied in the post above saying “...at the normal operating frequency of the processor will be under 2.5GHz, but when you use heavy apps or do multitasking the processor can increase the frequency up to 3.4 GHz.” I did not find this to be the case, at all. Running testufo.com in Chrome, I found that it was pegging every CPU core at 100% and the actual test was performing very poorly. Closing Chrome and then running a game (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare) also showed very poor performance while on its main menu screen (approximately 10fps). Closing and re-opening Geekbench while both programs were running, the “Maximum Frequency” continued to stay at 1.18 GHz even while all CPU cores were at 100%. Restarting Shadow didn’t change anything. The only thing that m
How can I configure which and how many screenshots should appear in the list of shortcuts in android? With the new update of the shadow application in android 3.2.3 I was pleasantly surprised to see some gamepass games in the shortcut images (9 games) but not all the ones I want, so I updated the app list from the Shadow application settings and now I only see 5 games.
If anyone else streams Spotify from their Shadow, do any of you come across an error in which the desktop player suddenly skips through what looks like 20 songs before resuming normal playback? I do not experience this when streaming from my local machine. Is there perhaps a network error of some sort between the Shadow and Spotify streaming server? Thanks!P.S.: I like playing Spotify directly on the Shadow when gaming, otherwise the Windows media controls for my local PC will not work.
I have a Steele Arctis 7 headset/microphone. When I use regular microphone setting the sound works great, but the microphone does not work. When I set it to USB the microphone works, but the sound stutters to a halt. I have tried all online remedies of disabling other sound/recorders on local and in shadow. I tried moving my USB plug to go directly into computer instead of keyboard outlet and tried high performance audio. I have made sure all settings mimic my local settings and nothing works. I have 1gb fiber with higher than recommended hardware.
I have read several forum topics on microphone issues and also submitted a ticket to Shadow, but so far nothing has worked for me.I am using a SteelSeries Arctis Pro USB headset. It works perfectly on my own computer. It's the only recording device currently enabled in the sound settings. I have tried both forwarding the USB peripherals and just enabling the microphone in the Quick Menu. If I forward the USB, the microphone works but the audio is broken and laggy. If I only enable the microphone (without forwarding peripherals), the audio is fine but the microphone doesn't work at all. The sample frequency is the same on my computer and Shadow (16-bit, 48000Hz), but my computer shows 2 channels and Shadow only shows 1 channel. I can't change either of them to match the other. I have tried using the official client and the beta client, with the same result every time. I have also tried reinstalling my headset. The only solution I can see is having a separate USB microphone and for
Offer a button here that sends a Shutdown /a command to the machine such that a user can cancel their own accidental closure of the Shadow host application. (I mean, okay, I guess because I’m a lurker I can’t have Sys Admin ideas even though I use Shadow as a dev machine and I’m a veteran Desktop Admin? .. maybe do better there, too - I like you guys and your software, but I want to close this page right now and just give up on my suggestion)
Shadow keeps using 0.2 or 2 MBP/s despite having 25 MBP/s allocated. Low bandwidth is activated, if I deactivate it, nothing happens. I have a 100 MBP/s connection. And my Shadow is connected to the Santa Clara server. And if it helps I haven’t used Shadow for a week since I had some technical issues with my 100 MBP/s connection.
Currently, when I touch my screen on my tablet while logged onto Shadow it simply minimizes my windows and brings me to the desktop. In other words: I am not able to scroll via touch or use menu buttons in games with touch. Is there a way around this? I have seen e.g. a streamer use the touch function on his iPad.
