Shadow has been working flawlessly for the last month or so for me. However just a day or two ago the audio started crackling and sounding like static... I reached out to shadow support and they suggested me running a speed test to the datacenter (Chicago) to assess the connection. My results kind of concern and confuse me - can anyone explain to me what might be causing my connection to behave erratically like the speedtest results below show (all taken within minutes of eachother)? To be clear right now i'm not necessarily trying to solve the audio crackling problem, I'm trying to figure out what is going on with my connection. Shadow suggested that the Jitter is the concern. Background: I use the Eero mesh router network, hard wired into the gateway router, i've reset the router, I use spectrum internet 200 mbps download, and I'm about 40 miles from the shadow datacenter. Test 1: Latency -18, Jitter - 6, MBPS - 100 Test 2: Latency - 30, Jitter - 50 (spiked to 200), MBPS - 75
Hello everyone, if I try to open the website of steam on the shadow pc I get the following error: Access Denied You don't have permission to access "http://store.steampowered.com/?" on this server. Reference #18.71221102.1595028579.6d00c1b This happens with the Browser and with the Steam App. I can download a game but i can’t open the shop or the community hub. At my home computer and my mobile it’s working without a problem. Any suggestions? kind regards
Hello! Title says all, more or less: Shadow-PC changes the backround, the color-scheme etc. on my local PC (and vice versa). Sneakily not immediately after launching the App, but on its own: So... I turn off Shadow, later I turn off the PC, everything seems to be all right, and the next morning… BAM! Pretty annoying and IMHO a security issue - if it can change that, what else does the Shadow App do - in the shadows...? Any Ideas?
Hey Shadow-Support, if you force people to save the login credentials with the new client update then at least provide an option where i can revert this. I´m using Shadow from different devices and i don´t want to have my username and passwort stored on every device. I searched the options but i did not find any setting to revert this. Not really understandable to me why you push users to store the credentials. How about you just let me choose for myself? Thanks for the help.
Background Info For a long period of time, I was having next to no issues with Shadow and connection was smooth and any interference was rare. However, as of recently, my ISP has changed and I have switched routers. My download ( >50 MB/s) and upload speeds (>30 MB/s) are clearly better with the change. Nothing about my setup (standard old dell PC with a tower) has changed except for the router. I am connected via Ethernet and am extremely close to the router in case I have to use WiFi (it hasn’t come to that, however). The Freezes Themselves That background information is important to my problems because as soon as the router switch, Shadow has been giving me freezes at seemingly random intervals in terms of video and audio. The visual freezes generally last upwards of 10 seconds, and after the freeze has ended, the video I then recieve is blurry and pixelated and usually doesn’t fix itself until restart the stream with the keybind. On the other hand, the audio issues start
I've noticed that the video stutters somewhat in Forza 7 and CS:GO, during fast motion. Halo MCC is the only other game I play on Shadow, but motion seems a lot better in that game. All the games are running well above 60fps. It doesn't seem to be a bandwidth or latency issue either; the Shadow speed test has never gone below 100mb bandwidth or above 30ms latency. The issue occurs on both my Apple TV and MacBook Pro. The stuttering is difficult to explain, but I've done some video editing in the past and it looks the same as when you encode a video using codecs or settings that aren't intended for fast motion. Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any particular video settings that are considered optimal? Eg. full screen vs. windowed, v-sync, frame rate cap, etc. Anything else to consider? Is this just par for the course with game streaming?
Wondering if Shadow might indulge me with a little information on how it handles transport security. Based on previous threads, which are relatively limited, it seems Shadow uses UDP to stream from the Shadow instance back to the client unless you choose TCP. My experience with the TCP options was not as good as a typical VDI or RDP session, the basic desktop would artifact, lag, and ghost. The typical discussion point to choosing UDP centers around reducing latency and higher gaming performance. Unless wrapped in a TLS or IPSEC tunnel, UDP isn’t typically encrypted. Now it’s valid to consider that what is streaming down from the Shadow instance to the client, it’s normally screen data and sound. Risk here is relatively small for gaming assuming proper password masking for applications on the instance. But how does the client handle data being sent to the instance? Primarily keystroke and peripheral (camera and sound/voice)? Unencrypted keyboard and peripheral (camera, sound/
I noticed recently that my Shadow’s (California, US) performance became slower. When I first got the server, the download and upload speeds were symmetrical (around 1.0 Gbps), but now when I test the upload speed of the server with Netflix's Fast.com, or speedtest.net it starts off around 1 Gbps upload, and immediately jumps down to around 100 - 200 Mbps of upload. Hello!! So I have Shadow running on my iPad Pro when i am away from my laptop and I was wondering how to activate a virtual trackpad. Windows 10 has that but it’s not showing up in the settings and I can’t find any alternatives :-( I have spare bluetooh mouse, but I can’t find the bluetooth connection settings in the Shadow launcher
So I went to turn on shadow and it starts normally, until it gets to step three or just stops the start up entirely. Kinda getting a little mad. I have shut it down for more than 30 minutes and it still won’t start up. I haven’t updated to Windows build 2004 (Atleast I don’t think I did) Please, help.
When I try to start Shadow on my PC, the desktop app is stuck on the Shadow is starting screen with the progress bar. When I click on start, it shows me this We're almost there! screen with a screenshot of a boot menu. I've tried shutting down Shadow, turning it to 5 MB and Prefer Reliability in the settings and starting it again, but it's still stuck on this issue. This started yesterday. It might be because I tried to update windows on my Shadow yesterday but the update didn't finish before shadow's 30 min window shut it off.
Hi. my logitech model G533 headphones have problems with the microphone the application detects the microphone and on my PC that is a mac they work perfectly, but when entering a game or the Discord it does not work. the sound is going perfectly, the problem has arisen since today, yesterday it worked perfectly
Every time I boot up Shadow my mouse is really slow. I can adjust it in the mouse settings - and its fine afterwards for the session - but when I close Shadow and log back on at a later time my mouse is really slow again. A small nuisance really, but I wonder why the adjusted mouse speed isn’t remembered by Shadow? Am I missing an easy fix or is this a known issue?
Hey, I just got a new Xbox Controller which I connected by Bluetooth on my Macbook, and also connected to my Android phone (not at the same time). The controller is immediately recognises by Shadow, on both devices, as I get a nice popup showing it is connected. On the Macbook it also shows up nicely in the controller menu in the Quick Menu. However, when I start a game on Shadow, in my case Fortnite, the game does not see the controller. It does not show the controller interface in the game menu, just the normal mouse and keyboard interface, while the Shadow Quick Menu still shows the controller is connected. Same result on Macbook and Android phone. Do I need to do additional steps to enable the controller in a game? The Fortnite menu usually auto-detects the type of controller. In Youtube videos you can see people switch between keyboard and controller on-the-fly. There is no controller selection in the Fortnite menu, as far as I know. I can use the controller just fine when I
