  • Application type: Windows
  • Shadow Client Version: Official, but have also tried Beta
  • Local device CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4770K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
  • Local device GPU: AMD Radeon 7700
  • Datacenter location: Chicago
  • Connection speed: 120 mbps download, 15 upload, 17-20ms latency
Other:
  • Date when problem appeared: November 10th, sometime between 8AM EST and 5PM EST
  • Did you take any action(s) which could have created this problem? If so, what?: None, I was playing fine in the morning, then I got home and now it's much worse.
  • Do you recall any action(s) you took after it happened?: None, outside of steps suggested by people in the Discord.
  • Do you use a VPN and/or antivirus?: No.
  • Please provide a screenshot of your shadow stats (Alt+Win+O). Also make sure it captures a timeframe when the issue has happened.: https://imgur.com/eFCaisQ
For whatever reason, my games runs mostly smooth - until I maximize Shadow. It then stutters and has artifacting issues. If I leave the Shadow window un-maximized it runs almost perfect at very high settings at 60FPS. This happens no matter what settings I use in game or bandwidth I have set in Shadow. I've been playing games perfectly for weeks in full screen so I really don't get it. The only change has been the recent update, so I don't understand.

Some things I've tried:
  • Rolling back my GPU Drivers
  • Completely uninstalling my drivers and reinstalling them
  • Yes, I reset my router and reseated all cabling. I even tried a different ethernet cord altogether.
  • Tried to mess with the refresh rates of my monitor and shadow as this issue almost seems related, but it didn't fix anything.
  • Have tried every variation of settings you can think of, nothing changes the problem.
Any ideas?

UPDATE: Have since discovered that this is occurring in ALL of my games when I have Shadow in Full Screen, not just Valhalla. I recorded video of the problem. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adJSJk7edcM is what the games look like when Shadow is windowed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Yc0jpRCyd0 is what they look like when Shadow is fullscreen. This only started happening after yesterdays update.

Here are some images proving it's not a latency or packet loss issue!

Yeah, that sure looks like a local rendering problem. I think you can rule out the “monitor refresh rate” idea, since the glitching is present in your second YT video...if it were a refresh rate problem, you wouldn’t be able to capture that unless using an “external” method to record the video.

Which driver versions are you using with the Radeon 7700? I’m assuming that due to its age, it can’t use the same versions used on newer cards?

Is it possible to switch your local rendering to use the iGPU on the Intel processor?

I’ve seen this type of thing happen with another cloud gaming service (Nvidia’s GFN), where a client update seemed to start using “newer” features of GPU rendering, and AMD folks with older cards/driver versions were impacted….and to a lesser extent, integrated graphics on the Intel GPU (sometimes fixed by moving to Intel’s DCH GPU drivers if the processor was new enough).

As far as I know I’m using the most recent drivers: 20.20.33.02-201105a-360732e-RadeonSoftwareAdrenalin2020

It is an older card, but it’s still supported by AMD’s new drivers even if it’s getting lower and lower on the list, so this shouldn’t be happening.

I tried switching to the iGPU and Shadow wouldn’t even launch.

It doesn’t appear to be only 7700’s affected, either, as a number of people have come forward in the Shadow Discord with the same issue - all AMD, but different cards.

Definitely something to report with a support ticket, then. I’d recommend linking in your thread here.

Yep. Been emailing support since it started. Thanks!

This is also happening to me and I thought it was only me. Can’t play any games without it doing that. I’ve tweaked every setting possible but nothing helps.

Hey everyone, I had the same issue and Shadow support helped out, they have included a fix in their Beta app, try downloading from here, it works in full screen now for me.  I also have an AMD HD 7700 on my local PC, seems to be an issue with AMD GPUs as @FlamingGnats suggested, thanks for posting your issue.

Oops here - https://account.shadow.tech/home/applications to download the Beta app.

Yep, the new beta update fixed the issue for me as well. Thanks for being so quick on this guys! I was honestly expecting to have to wait much longer.
