Mouse Cursor Jumps Around Screen on Mac

Hello,

I have had Shadow now for a year and I’m just now running into this problem where my mouse cursor will just jump to a random spot on my screen every few seconds. If I just move my mouse an inch in any direction, it will end up on the other side of the screen, always at a random spot. Sometimes it will jump over about an inch or two on my screen.

I am aware of cursor locking - this is not the problem. I thought it was packet loss or lag but there is no issue there. My latency is at 12ms. ‘Input Monitoring’ is enabled in System Preferences.

Again, I’ve been using Shadow for a year almost every day with no issue and now this is happening. Is this a Windows OS thing?

I am on an iMac running Catalina 10.15.7

Any help would be great.. Thank you.

Have you tried adjusting the mouse speed in the Shadow Control Panel on your shadow desktop in the Windows OS?

I gave it shot and it is still happening. I will jump just sitting there. I went to highlight the mouse sens number in the Control Panel and it jumped 5 inches to the left and bottom.. making me mis-click. Then it jumped back. Thanks.

Make sure you don’t have any other mouse devices in use, like a touchpad.

Check the mice settings on your host device.

Check the mice settings in Windows on your Shadow.

Check the mice settings in the shadow control panel.

Even though you’re aware of mouse lock, toggle it around anyway.

Clean your mouse.

Mouse input on its own without any interaction from you is usually a hardware issue, not a software one. Software issues tend to be the mouse behaving strangely but only when you’re moving it. When it moves on its own, that’s nearly always a hardware issue. Check to see if the issue happens even when you’re not running Shadow.

Thank you for your replies. I have tried multiple solutions..

This only happens when I move my mouse or use my scroll wheel. My cursor jumping does not happen on my host MacOS — it only happens on Shadow.

It does not happen when I have the Shadow Overlay Menu open.

It does not happen when out of Full Screen.

Mouse settings haven’t changed on host device.

I tried reinstalling the drivers.

I tried two other mice. (All Logitech)

I checked the mouse settings in Shadow.. in Control Panel and in Windows. I checked some mouse settings that other people have mentioned, like disabling Enhance Pointer Precision (it was off).

I toggled Cursor Lock.. it does not happen when cursor is unlocked.

On my Shadow, I disabled Discord overlay as well as Nvidia overlays.

I tried a different mouse pad.. I tried no mouse pad.

I made a new user account in my OS with minimal startup apps and only Shadow installed, no luck.

I tried the Beta download of Shadow.

I then tried my Bootcamp partition (Windows 10 boot on Mac) — no mouse jumping. Doing this makes me think that this is a Mac issue or an issue with the Mac version of Shadow. Although this kind of works for now, I would rather have my MacOS running Shadow.

This is so frustrating. I can’t click on anything without my cursor jumping around my screen.

I got this problem too since 1 week

Im running on mac os too

Did it get worse with the recent update? I’m finding the mouse to be close to unusable on a mac recently too

Happening to me as well.

I'm having this issue too.

Would love it if Shadow could make a statement acknowledging the problem or saying they’re working on it. Seems like it’s happening to enough people. I’ve also noticed that it appears to only be in cursor locked mode. Unfortunately, some games don’t work unlocked.

+1 started noticing this issue recently

Try switching between UDP and TCP in your launcher settings.

i have the same issues and i am really frustrated about it, can maybe a dev look into that?

Did you open a ticket with support?

I found that the cursor lags (and jumps occasionally) when the cursor is locked, but when I unlock it, it has no latency at all and doesn’t appear to jump.  This only started happening in the past month.

I’m having this issue since 2 month ago. I’ve tried everything I can do. (fresh install, 5 different wired/wirelss/bluetooth mice, and used wired internet to avoid any interferences). I’ve been waiting for the fix that never happened. I really loved this service but now It’s simply unusable and really want to request for a refund. In this case may I ask you for a refund even I have yearly commitment plan?

I’m running Shadow on Mac and have the same problem, cursor jumps around all the time, so annoying
