PSA: Shadow USB Input drivers will bootloop macOS Big Sur

Because I am a idiot that wanted gamepad to work, I innstalled shadow and the the USB drivers for macOS Big Sur beta 1. The MacBook Pro in question is now stuck in a boot loop.

I have looked for the driver to delete, but can not seem to find it. If you guys even remember the name of it (I can not remember, even thought I accepted the macOS secutiry prompt), that would make it easier to troubleshoot.

Safe mode works.

If any Qs, let me know before I have to format it.

I have made Shadow aware of the issue here: https://twitter.com/itavisen/status/1276217467220578304?s=21

Yeah for sure, its not like I have a choice. I have never attempted to remove a driver from macos before, and didnt find out this time. Deleted everything and im doing big sur from USB.

This is more of a warning. Do not do it if you are on beta 1. macos WILL NOT boot again.

Edit 2: for whoever brave soul will try the same, trying to reinstalling big sur from installation volume while in safe mode messes up the OS even more.

Edit 3: heres a strange error: xbox elite series 2 effed up my wifi so bad i couldny play. Ipados14 even has a warning about it:

NIce find! Unfortunate that it wasnt a very good find for you

Hi, had the same problem too and tried to find out how to solve it without reinstalling lol (reinstalled 2 times before I found this)

The bootloop, at least in my case, isn’t forever. Sometimes it took me 2 reboots for it to work properly, sometimes even 10 or more.

Driver uninstall from the shadow application didn’t work for me, had to delete the whole Shadow folder at /library/application support. (You’ll lose all configurations though)

Now it boots normal again :)

Thank you for sharing. I didnt assume that would work, so I did a hard reinstall. Didnt mind have a clean macbook anyway.

Glad you found a way. Cheers.

Just curious as you’re using Big Sur too, is your microphone forwarding working?

I just can’t get my mic to work.
