RDR2 no longer working after last update.

As per title, It appears the latest Rockstar update has broke RDR2 on Shadow. 

I have been able to play with no issues via the Rockstar launcher on Boost since its day 1 launch, however the game now quits to desktop when attempting to start either online or solo. I have been through all the suggestions on the various online forums to no avail.

I am able to run the game if i install on one the kids home PC’s (Ryzen CPU’s, one with a RTX 2060 and the other with a GTX 1070). A quick check on /r/ShadowPC shows I'm not alone, not checked on the Discord as i’m not a fan at all of how its used. I’m now convinced its to do with the shadow hardware.

Has ANY boost RDR2 gotten it to work since the last update and if so how?

Has ANY Shadow staff been able to run it since last update on the BOOST configuration? again if so how and any chance you could advise the communities, be it here or /r/ShadowPC.

This in fact is not solely a Shadow issue, the latest RDR2 update broke the game for lots of people. You should go make a thread where Rockstar can see it so hopefully, they can push a patch that fixes this.

So it still doesn't mean that its specifically Shadows fault though. Like just because Valorant doesn’t work with Shadow, doesn't mean its Shadow is at blamce. And in this case, other people that aren’t using Shadow are also having issues, and as you see above, people that have Shadow have no issues. So it is a problem with the game and its latest patch. We can hope that Rockstar can fix it.

Confirming it’s broken on my account too, pretty frustrating since due to the limits in  storage availability this game was basically the only one I can keep on shadow. Now my subscription is worthless

Ask the Discord user to provide a video showing it working on Boost as your post proves nothing.

Blades response? What? Im not a part of blade, Im a user like you. If you wish for more proof, you can ask the user yourself because I dont see a reason why they would lie. I dont see why you are so angry for something Shadow didnt do. Also see this from the Shadow NA discord:

I’m still on Shadow Legacy and the recent RDR2 update broke as well on both my Shadow and my daughters. I even wiped my shadow and reinstalled RDR2 from scratch. Same problem.

 

I can start RDR2, and I can navigate the initial menu screen but as soon as I try to enter any option (start a game multiple or single, visit options page) (I can flip between single player and online pages) the game screen goes dark like it’s going to load, if I do single I can see the foggy background and it freezes and drops me back to windows. For multiplayer, I see a black screen, a few words (like town name) flash at the bottom right, and 2 seconds later I’m dropped back to windows.

 

Windows event log indicates RDR2 is performing a memory exception (accessing memory it shouldn’t). Running it as administrator doesn’t help (RDR2 won’t even start in compatibility mode, Rockstar has it display an error saying it’s not supported.

 

There was also a windows update recently, this time I wiped I didn’t try installing that update and I had the same problem.

 

Turning off anti-virus scanning doesn’t help either. It was working just fine before the 28th when the new update dropped. :-(

As far as I know Rockstar knows about the issue with the latest patch and will work to fix it.

The update(fix) from R* came out today that was supposed to fix this and did not solve the above issue for me. Did it work for anyone else???

So it's been nearly 2 weeks and i decided yo use my super human powers of being the world biggest a**hole to annoy rockstar and after much back and forth, including me sending all my msinfo and xdiag stuff and log files ,,,,, blah blah ,,, after a week I finaly got an answer Hello HashtagJessen,

Heard from R* that Shadow is not officially supported and they narrowed the issue down to only happening on PC users running the game through Shadow. I.e. they aren’t going to fix it, so is Shadow working on a solution to this? If not there is no point in my membership anymore and I would like to cancel if Shadow doesn’t plan on fixing this.

This is a huge bummer. I waited months to get my Shadow specifically to play RDR2 only for this to happen. Has there been any word from Shadow? I really don’t want to move to Stadia.

I want to note, that per Steam, there are non Shadow users with this issue. Saying Shadow isnt supported is RS punting on the issue.

The downgrading workaround needs the save files. I’ve deleted them while trying to make RDR2 work the day it got broken.

Is there any way to download RDR2 cloud saves without the game?

I downgraded RDR2, put my save files, and was able to run the game one time only. The second run got me a verification error. I switched the steam to online mode, tried to run the game but got the “Update Required” error from Rockstar Launcher. Reinstalling the launch didn’t help.

 

Any ideas on how to fix it?

….i also tried this downgrade of my Steam RDR2 yesterday. (what a “hack” !)
but my trust to sh*** R* has been confirmed:

a downgrade is NOT ALLOWED through Rockstar Games Launcher.

 

i even managed to get RDR2.exe down to release version 1.0.1232 (from 1.0.13.xx) with all its depending files.

But when starting RDR2 through steam client it’s forwarded to R* Launcher and this f** Launcher says “Update required!
You must update RDR2 before you can launch it”

so i guess there’s no way to bypass this update-check of R* Launcher (without any stupid crack...).
the GTAV.exe tweak did not work anymore either… (at least this they got fixed really quick, these dump Rockstar f****)

 

just bought RDR2 through steam, so i will claim it and exchange my purchase.

fu* R* ...this is how you distribute Games?!
