shadow app not working with AT&T data

Hello, 

I’m new to shadow an was recently activated last week ish. Trying to use shadow on my iPad Pro also on my iPhone that when I load the app, log into my account, the app won’t load my account but gives me a R:108/109 error saying it’s my internet. I sent a email to support telling them in detail what is happening. I got a response fast that explained it’s a new issue they had where if your using AT&T it won’t load your account. They are trying to fix it for the sense the email Monday but sadly no response but after researching on many forums I can’t if anyone else having this problem. If I use wifi or Verizon hotspot it works but not AT&T that is my service provider for both my apple products. I purchased my subscription to use shadow on my iPad to enjoy my computer games while at work sense I work 16 hours a day I don’t get much time at home to use my own computer an sadly my works wifi is highly restricted an trying use someone’s Verizon hotspot is a wasteful sense it takes from their data plus it’s too slow to play anything. 
Any update or potential fix if it’s a problem I’m having only would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

It *might* be Security with Send / Receive with Router, if it works with other Providers.

Have you tried opening Ports?

I do not recommend if you haven't done this before as it can lead to a leak in your Security.

On wifi the app works no problem. It’s only doesn’t work off my iPads data. So as far as I’ve seen there’s not option to open ports off AT&T’s unlimited data plan. There’s no router or modem.

So, wifi works and Data doesn't. 

It *might* be ATT.

Trying to use phone data, even though unlimited, is still subject to speed and Data Caps through the Network Provider.

Snapshot of my Data usage. 

135gb of Wi-Fi v 239mb Data.

I've tried my phone on 2.4ghz networks and barely got anything to move, including Shadow.

There is a Minimum Speed threshold and Mobile Data is Tower Traffic Driven.

I say that because in my area, WiFi is now a luxury.  I get Network Slowdowns because of the Pandemic and more schools just closed.

Virtual Learning (us) takes the bandwidth.

(This is just a Scenario - I have Spectrum)

Comcast announced it was Capping Customers.


Another Scenario is, have you tried hard reset?

I don't have any iOS, but some Android let you remove Sims and Batteries, Reconnect and Retry.

 

Not sure if either Scenario fits, but using True Provider Data on "GeForce Now" gives you a Target per Hour: Balanced used approx 10-14gb per Hour.

Shadow is more streamlined, but it's still having to process the stream in real-time.  Mobile Data may not cut it anymore.

 

Makes sense. I seem to forget about the outside world is in a pandemic when I’m either working or taking care of my newborn. 
 

i still find it interesting that I seem to be the only one having this problem with AT&T. If it would even load into shadow even with the reduced speed I would be able to tell if this will work for me or not. But I keep getting R:108/109 every attempt to log in. Restarting my iPad, an iPhone hasn’t changed my current results.

How long have you had the Account?

Me personally, I got a weird 500 error, but I have to admit I was a lil excited and was logging in probably as it was finishing.😁

Oh, like I said, I don't have iOS.

In the App Section of your Account, do you have access to a BETA version?

I switch between the 2 on Windows and Android automatically switches it back to Live.

Anything running in the Background that can be disabled/uninstalled?

ATAT flipped a switch and sent all mobile data to now use ipv6 only. Shadow is aware of the issue and is working on a fix to support ipv6 but no new news on that front. -Gelgoog.

That makes sense. Guess there’s nothing I can do for now besides be patient. Thanks for all the info and help battleborndj & gelgoog 

Same issue here. Using a vpn fixes it for me. 

Using a VPN isn’t a viable option. Rather not pay any other subscription to use my other subscription. 

Still no update on a fix from the support staff an I haven’t found any news on a potential fix either. Keeping my hopes high for the support email every hour I check. 

Proton offers a free version and they have a strong reputation for not being shady. But ymmv and all that. Why it even bypasses the problem with att to begin with is beyond me, i had thought that maybe they were blocking shadow until i read the ipv6 thing. Hoping for a solution too.

In the meantime, try googling your phone model and carrier and see if there’s any way to force ipv4 or disable ipv6, and see if that restores your connection. Once Shadow solves the issue overall, you can undo the setting.
