Steele Arctis Pro7 Stutters on USB. Mic does not work on other setting

I have a Steele Arctis 7 headset/microphone. When I use regular microphone setting the sound works great, but the microphone does not work. When I set it to USB the microphone works, but the sound stutters to a halt. I have tried all online remedies of disabling other sound/recorders on local and in shadow. I tried moving my USB plug to go directly into computer instead of keyboard outlet and tried high performance audio. I have made sure all settings mimic my local settings and nothing works. I have 1gb fiber with higher than recommended hardware.

Did you try a different launcher?

I have only used the shadow launcher? I'm not sure what other launchers there are.

Is it still an issue? There is the beta and alpha launcher.

I will try it again tonight. I only used the launcher presented to me via email. I'm unsure which one. I am assuming it is the beta since it is a recent launch in Oregon.

I was able to test it sooner than I, thought. The problem remains the same. Using the microphone setting I hear everything crystal clear but mic does not work. Switching it to the USB periph settings the microphone is picked up. 9 times out of 10 nothing plays back. When it does it is sputtered and only for a few fractions of a second.

I have gone into cpu sound settings and disabled all other sound and recorder options. Tried playing with the Hz. Tried switching default devices on the cpu and in game/discord settings.

Someone else posted the same issue with an arctis headset a few weeks ago.

Heya! Thanks for reaching out in the forums about your issue,

Can you give us the information on your launcher?

Is it alpha? Beta? Official?

Let us know

:)

My same response to Lily. How can I tell which launcher I have?

This is ridiculous it’s been this long and the same question was asked twice without additional help. How do I go about getting a refund?

you are asking this on a Forum, not using the dedicated form in your account settings. People here are members just like you and me, some with much more technical knowledge, some with more experience on Shadow.

You are connecting a USB headset, most likely your internet connection won’t be enough to support the transfer of the date (upload is more important there). Using USB in combination with any audio passing through is extremely bandwith heavy.

Things you can try:

  • are you on cable or WIFI?
  • do you have fiber or ADSL?
  • did you shut down any other program that uses bandwith?
  • is the problem more noticeable on certain times of day?

Asking for a refund because the community does not provide you with an answer is kinda harsh isn’t it? You can always fill out a request for help form so the real techies can have a look. Check your account within Shadow.

It would be at the bottom of the launcher, what you have is likely the official(stable) client. You can get the beta client on your Shadow account page. Did you go into the properties of the Shadow microphone device and make sure that it’s not muted?

I have the same.

Normal Launcher,

connected with cat5e using fibre connection of 200/200

usb sound is crap and stutters, mic works

other setting, sound is good but no mic working in discord.

Arctis 7 (had the same with a logitech G933)

ah fixed it, mic was indeed muted for some reason.

It does seem to have a slight delay though
