Stuttering Video

I've noticed that the video stutters somewhat in Forza 7 and CS:GO, during fast motion. Halo MCC is the only other game I play on Shadow, but motion seems a lot better in that game. All the games are running well above 60fps. It doesn't seem to be a bandwidth or latency issue either; the Shadow speed test has never gone below 100mb bandwidth or above 30ms latency. The issue occurs on both my Apple TV and MacBook Pro.

The stuttering is difficult to explain, but I've done some video editing in the past and it looks the same as when you encode a video using codecs or settings that aren't intended for fast motion.

Has anyone else experienced this? Are there any particular video settings that are considered optimal? Eg. full screen vs. windowed, v-sync, frame rate cap, etc. Anything else to consider? Is this just par for the course with game streaming?

Have you used the Shadow overlay or Ping Plotter to look for packet loss or latency in the moment there is stutters? On my macbook I feel like wifi and Shadow hasn’t been good, getting moments where things run poor then it gets better. In my case there was packet loss each time.

I found two fixes.

  1. using poe adapter for a Ethernet like experience.
  2. i kicked all devices of the 5ghz portion of my wifi and use it only for Shadow and Oculus Quest.

Thanks for the reply. It's not network related; the graphs are always stable. The problem occurs consistently and only during fast motion.

Have you tried enabling low end configuration (on the launcher) just as a test? I was having similar issues and this fixed my issue. It’s a new issue but this seemed to rectify the problem.

Also, who is your ISP and what router do you have?

Can you try the beta application?

You can download that from your account page at https://sso.shadow.tech/

@jaredoconnor I have the same error. Everythings works fine up until today. Did you find any solution? Beta application didn’t change anything.

I did try the low end config before, but that didn't make any difference. On my Apple TV, the low end config actually causes the video to freeze sometimes. I've seen a number of complaints about this and it seems to be a bug in the Apple TV app, because apparently older versions didn't do that.

I'm not sure there was actually anything wrong; I think I'm just not used to playing at 60hz or there is an inherent limitation with video streaming and fast motion. I haven't noticed it lately, so I think I have just become used to it now.
