"Waiting for an Available Slot"

More and more frequently of late since converting to the Power Upgrade I’ve been unable to log in because I’m “waiting for an available slot.” This is both disheartening and annoying. I have limited time for gaming and as such when I do I would like to be able to PLAY. Not stare at a queue for 30+ minutes.

Please tell me something is being done to address this. If I can’t play when I have time to play then I may as well go to consoles.

Seems like Power Upgrade is a lower queue for more money

Seems like Power Upgrade is a lower queue for more money

When I was on the base plan I never had a queue. Not once.

Anyone at Shadow want to chime in? I haven’t seen anything in the Roadmap addressing the increased usage and increased frequency of queuing for Power Users.

Having the same issue. Recently upgraded to the Power Upgrade and had ~30 minutes of wait time at multiple points all weekend. Never once had that with the non-power upgrade so a bit of a shock.

I’m in the Washington DC datacenter if that helps at all. What’s also frustrating is I went to switch from my Apple TV to my iPad and upon disconnecting from the Apple TV, I got stuck in a 30 minute queue on the iPad.

At a minimum, I’d suggest a disclaimer before upgrading of the average Power Upgrade wait times in the region. I may have not pulled the trigger knowing I’d have to wait 30 minutes a shot.

I’m connecting to DC as well. And again tonight… 6 minute queue… that so far is 20 minutes long...

Connecting to the Washington DC datacenter as well. Seems to be getting worse as the weeks go on, the frequency of the queue is nearly every time past 6PM EST.

Thank you for reaching out to us and for sharing your concerns about the wait times for an available slot. We understand how frustrating it can be to have limited time for gaming and not being able to access your Shadow PC when you want to play.

We would like to assure you that your feedback has been heard and will be shared with the Data Center and Leadership Team. At the moment, the counter is an estimate of when the next possible slots are available. We can't accurately predict exactly when someone is going to stop their session on Shadow and shut down.

Frustrating is an understatement when I’m troubleshooting an issue with an application, have to restart my VM and get a queue EVERY TIME. I’ve wasted almost an hour in queues tonight. I hope this can be resolved soon. Otherwise Shadow is not worth the hassle.

Appreciate the reply Jonathan! I’m more curious if the Shadow team has anything in the works, specifically for the Washington DC datacenter, to increase capacity. If so, is there a rough timeline that can be shared?

The counter is your stop gap when a datacenter is over-provisioned but that’s a big part of the frustration, there shouldn’t be a counter. What is Shadow doing to bring that counter down from 30+ minutes nightly to almost nothing?

As a user, I’d like Shadow to be more upfront with us. I can understand if there was a big influx of Power upgrades as the beta period ended, but we want to be assured the counter is temporary as capacity is increased.

Also has Shadow stopped allowing Power upgrades in the Washington DC datacenter?
