hi I have a issue with the xbox game pass it wont let me download any games because it says there is a issue with the storage device I have used the game pass on shadow since I joined with no issues until now the error code is Code: 0x80073D13 I have followed all Microsoft’s advice on there website for fixing the issue but nothing seems to work is anyone else having this is

Edit: Big thanks to Auwolf for the workaround! I only dug into why it works and wrote the steps to perform the workaround.
For those of you who have been running into issues installing Xbox Game Pass games on your Shadow and you're getting an error:
"For this game, choose a drive that's formatted as NTFS" or error code 0x80073D13
The issue is that your Shadow's C drive has been formatted with a cluster size (byte allocation size) of something other than 4k (mine is set to 16k). XGP games require that the drive/partition you want to install the game on has a byte allocation size of 4k (not sure why Shadow is setting it to such a large value). Good news is that there's a workaround that doesn't require reformatting or rebuilding of your Shadow PC.
(Caution: this is somewhat advanced, so if there's anything you absolutely cannot lose on your Shadow PC and you're not comfortable with making disk partition changes or you haven't done it before, contact Shadow Support instead just in case).
The following steps will create a new partition (drive D) on your Shadow PC by borrowing space from its C drive. These instructions assume that you only have one drive (C) currently.
1. Open the Disk Management app by pressing WIN-R and entering "**diskmgmt**.msc", then hitting Enter.
2. Right-click the C drive in the grid at the top and select "Shrink Volume...".
3. In the window that appears, choose the amount of space you want to shrink the C drive by. This will be the space you will allocate to a new D drive later.
1. DO NOT choose the entire amount displayed in the "Size of available shrink space in MB" field. You want to leave Windows some breathing room. Enter a number that's half of the available shrink space to be safe, as long as it's enough to fit the game(s) you want to install.
4. Click "Shrink" and after a moment your C drive will be a bit smaller and you'll notice a new "Unallocated" section of the "Disk 0" graph near the bottom.
5. Right-click on the "Unallocated" space at the bottom right and select "New Simple Volume...".
6. This will go through the process of formatting the unallocated space as drive D. Feel free to customize anything... just make sure that the "Allocation size unit" is either set to "Default" or "4k". However, it is safe to just "next" your way through the wizard.
7. You now have a D drive. This will be where you'll install the XGP games:
8. In the Xbox app, click your profile icon at the top and select "Settings".
9. Click "General" on the left.
10. In the "Drive selection" section on the right, click the "(C:)" dropdown and select "(D:).
11. Try installing a game. It should now be successful.
Thank you for your reply I will give that a try . I have never had this issue before with the game pass even games like metro exodus that I have downloaded and played before won’t download anymore ?

You can follow the conversation on reddit if you receive the ntfs error. But apparently its a bug and you could wait for ms to fix it?

There is not an explicit 4k option in the allocation drop down for either straight up format, shrink, or any other part of disk management, just the normal 4096 bytes option - which I assume is the correct option, but that’s not doing the trick for me, nor is “default”

Exactly what I already tried. Shrink/format - etc, doesn’t matter. I’ve also tried both the beta and the stable with the same exact issue unfortunately.
What’s fun is that I can still install the XBox/PC No Man’s Sky beta from the MS Store - but nothing from the XBox app itself will work.

For those who might have this issue and aren’t having luck manually attempting to change your allocation to 4k, you can create a VHDX drive and use that.

Note that when you do this on shadow and you get to where you’re creating the volume - just leave the allocation to “default” to get it working.
I finally got it download games again. Don’t know if there is a solution to this yet. I tried the reformat solution and it didnt work for me. Then I unistalled the Xbox beta with Revouninaller then reinstalled it and tried to download No Man’s Sky and it started downloading. I’m not sure if it was the reinstalling of the app or a combination of the both but I figured i would report what I found. Good Luck.

Shadow disks are formatted in NTFS 16k instead of 4k, it shouldn't be an issue, but since a few days Microsoft Game Pass games won't install if disk is not in 4k to workaround this Microsoft bug, creating a VHDX drive works.
yeah, this has been happening to me as well. I tried the partition of the drive and that didn’t work. Support wanted me to format the drive after all that didn’t work.
After the format, it still doesn’t work. They say they are still looking into this.

Tried all that myself. Kept 60gb for windows drive and assigned the remaining 195 to a ntfs drive with 40xx allocation.

Open the Microsoft Store and update the Xbox app. They released a new update and fixed this issue.
At least, it’s working for me.
