Double Vision on Alpha app for quest

Userlevel 2

So im having difficulty with vision when running the alpha app on my quest 2. Ive been able to mess around a little bit but have to close one eye to make sense of anything. Seems like the image is not lined up right (perhapse the ipd isnt being accounted for in the software).

Just wondering if anyone else is dealing with double vision or if someone was able to fix it.

I found the answer on other posts. Quest 2 is not yet supported but they are working on it.

Part of this may be because the IPD on quest 2 isn’t the same as it is on quest 1. This could just be a limitation of the quest 2 and it may just be incompatible with your IPD. Try other VR programs on your quest2, not just shadow, and see how that goes.

Unfortunately this is one of the drawbacks of the quest2, from what I’ve read. If your IPD isn’t one of the ones it supports, you’re just out of luck.

the IPD slider does not work properly with the shadow vr app. on anything but 1 it looks wrong, and i know it isn’t the quest because on virtual desktop it works fine on 3

Yeah. The same goes for me with the ShadowVR on my Quest 2. I can’t get my headset to be recognizes as ‘awake’ in the virtual desktop to Shadow wireless connection so I contacted support with a ticket and their answer was to use the Alpha app, which I have set up and can connect to but now I’m getting woozy with not being able to see clearly unless I really focus my eyes. I’m beginning to wonder why I am paying for a service I can’t use. And before anyone asks, yes, I followed all instructions and can connect and all works properly except being able to see properly. All other VR apps work just fine.

I can confirm that if I change to IPD 1 on the device it looks playable when I normally use setting 3.  I assume this will be resolved when they update for the Quest 2 as I think the IPD adjustment is not just mechanical on the Quest 2 and something needs to be adjusted on the screen maybe.

So far though I am excited about the ability that this will open for the Quest and Quest 2.  It was actually the main reason I subscribed to Shadow.

Indeed Quest 2 not supported yet.

Indeed Quest 2 not supported yet.

Any idea when quest 2 will be supported? Like befor3 the end of the year? Or some sort of timeframe?

I believe this should be possible by January.

Glad to read that the Quest 2 support is coming. Like others, I have decided to subscribe to Shadow in order to have a suitable computer to connect to my Quest 2. I’m in no hurry, and happy to ride along with the alpha.

Hello Sil,
Quest 2 is now supported since December 23rd. give it a try :à

You bet, as soon as my Boost is active!

I just tried it on my Quest 2 and the IDP is way off.  Latest build from Sidequest, as of 01/28.

Really unfortunate such a minor bug is ruining it, when otherwise it seems to stream good enough for stationary VR experiences.

Quest2 Certainly isn't supported since December 23rd. The menu is totally broken and if you manage to load up ShadowVR the issue of the virtual cameras being spaced too far apart completely breaks the service. If you close one eye, you'll discover the resolution to be appalling and the lag to be breaking even running high speed internet on a dedicated router with no other devices connected with a ping of 14-20ms. That's my experience.

Hello there, we have identified what is wrong with Quest 2. Indeed we are not handling properly the different IPD settings. This will be fixed in a coming build.

Any idea when the next build will be available ?

I do but I won’t share it here :)

Darn :-)

Hi, I too am getting double vision when taking off my quest 2. Is there a way to fix that at all because it takes a while to get my focus back in order when I’m done playing anything through Shadow.

Is there a fix to this? I’m trying to check the replies but they’re nowhere to be found.

I have this issue as well on my Quest2. Setting the IPD back to the center helps, but the smaller setting doesn’t work.

The “fix” for right now is to set the IPD slider to the middle setting. Not great if that’s not your natural IPD. But you can see that it works much better that way.

Excuse my ignorance but how do I set my IPDback to center?

Quest 2? Physically slide the lenses.

I'm still experiencing this as well on my quest 2, I decided to use Side Quest to get the alpha after experiencing tons of lag playing using Virtual Desktop.

After finally getting it to work and only spending about 2 min in Shadow VR it's strained my eyes and I'm now taking the time to just get my eyes back to normal.

But overall just disappointed right now, will probably keep using the laggy virtual desktop way till this is fixed since after the pain caused by just a few min I don't think it's worth the trouble for now.
